this group from the last 60’s to the early 70’s was a great group of guys. Had great songs Joy to the World, Shambala, One man band, so just throwing this out one out there, has anyone heard of them? And what do you think of the MLT Covering any of their songs?

    And Lady Samantha,

And Harry Nilsson One, I could see the Twins doing this song.

They were a good band for their time. To me the song I like the most is ONE.

I’m a fan of Three Dog Night too, Bill.  A few months ago I suggested that MLT cover Joy to the World.

I like their songs Joy To The World and One.  Joy To The World was another popular song we sang in music class.

I like the way the band came up with their name too.  It never gets cold enough for a 3 dog night in the winter where I am, maybe a 1 dog night.

I wish we had sung Joy to the World in music class, Jung; that would have been fun.  The only Three Dog Night song we learned was Black and White, and we were too young to appreciate the significance of it.

My wife was a teacher and one of the songs she taught her class was Joy to the World. The kids (3rd and 4th grade) loved the line “Jerimiah was a bullfrog!” One of my favorite 3 Dog Night songs is Eli’s coming. Great keyboard part.

Michael.  That was my favourite part of the song too I recall.  I thought Jerimiah was a bullfrog was the name of the song for the longest time. ?

David, Black and White, I haven’t heard that song in ages, how delightful.  We sang that one a lot too.  I had no idea that was 3 Dog Night.  Wow my grade 5 music teacher Mr Stevens introduced us to a lot of great music! ?

Sadly I heard later in high school Mr Stevens passed away.

This one is for you Mr Stevens! ?

Laura Nyro  who wrote song Eli Coming doing her version. It’s good but Three Dog did it better.

David, I like those 1978 prices.  I remember those record commercials on TV.  Do you remember those record clubs, 10 records for 10 cents, with strings attached?  Other songs from 3 Dog Night I recognize is “And Old Fashioned Love Song”.

Yes, Jung, I remember the Columbia House Record Club and things of that ilk.  The print ads were everywhere.  When I was a kid I used to read all the labels on the photos of those stacks of tapes, but I was never tempted to buy because I didn’t know any of the groups.  Well, that and the fact that my allowance was just 25 cents a week.

David, yeah familiar ad.  I enjoyed looking at all the records and choosing the ones I would want, but then the fine details, “you have to buy a dozen more records at full price in the next year or two” would scare me away.  But it let me dream.

Why, of course I like 3 Dog Night, and their music …. I have a greatest hits compilation CD somewheres I think  in my collection , if not definitely  enjoyed singing their songs alongside them on the radio whenever they came on back then …

Great Replies to this topic everyone. I first heard One back in 1969 on vacation with my family and went to the dance hall to hear music and this was the first song I heard walking into the building. And they had a string of hits till 1974 with The Show Must Go on song. I seen them 3 years ago ( with out Chuck who passed away I Believe ) and they did a great job and sounded fantastic after all these years!
