Club Members and Mona and Lisa,

Please forgive me if this was already brought up but how do you feel about Motown Music from the 60’s? Supremes’, Martha and the Vandalia’s  , Temptation’s, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye just to name a few.  A ton of great music from the Motor City and great song writing and arrangements. Such a great period of music. I do apoligze for this if this topic was already talked about. With my little Grand daughter Maddie I am quite busy in the evenings…LOL…Home Work , dinner, talk and bath and then time for bed and don’t get a chance to catch up with you all but try to hook up when I can and just love the great conversations from everyone and so cool that Mona and Lisa actually answer us  that is why they are so special they have it together.

Yes, I enjoy most of the Motown stuff as well.  To me it’s a natural progression from the era of doo-wop and girl groups.

I like some of the Motown music too.  Temptations; My Girl, Just My Imagination and Little Eva; Locomotion, Supremes; I hear a Symphony, Reflections for example.

Bill, if you want to hear from Mona and Lisa as well here, it would be best to post the question in the “Ask the MLT” sub forum, if you haven’t do so already.

Here is one of my favourite Motown songs.

Yea Bill, That was a very exciting time. Back then they called it Soul music. Whey you think about it. They more than held their own against  the British Invasion. Berry Gordy knew what he was doing. I just wish they made Soul music today instead of Rap.  That’s me. Bill they had a stable of great stars.

My favorite 4 top song. Bernadette

Another great thing I loved about the male groups. Was their dance  moves and routine.

i.e. The Temps, The Tops, The Miracles

They name it right when they said Soul you felt it in their voice and their dancing.

This, according to Wikipedia, was the very first Motown release, in January 1959:

Are The Righteous Brothers considered Motown?  They are labeled as soul.

One of my all time faves.

Jung, I think Motown is defined by the record label that the artist records for, so Bill and Bobby would not officially be considered Motown.  But agreed, incredible vocal performance!
