    Dear MonaLisa,

I have only made two trips to Europe and one weekend in Vienna.
My favorite memories of Wien are:
walking along the Danube on a Sunday morning,
    The Spanish Riding School,
a concert by the Vienna Valser Orchestra (all Mozart),
    the Natural History Museum.

I grew up in the Wash. D.C. area and have been to the Smithsonian
    Natural History Museum several times.
I was really impressed with Austria’s Natural History Museum.
I regret not having more time for so many other museums in Vienna.

Those photos of the Austrian Alps are my favorites from your travels.
Even though Lanzarote is serious competition.
I wonder how many other MLT Club members have nice memories of Austria.

    —–

I have enjoyed many songs from the Cavern Club CD download.
I am still waiting for the CD.

Ladies while you are focused on original songs we will all look forward to the results.
But we all have a long way to go.
So if you you get back to doing tributes again please consider adding
Edelweiss to the list – in honor of your homeland.
I think of Edelweiss as the summer counterpart to Leise Rieselt der Schnee.
Here is the German version from The Sound of Music

Fröhliche Weihnachten zur Familie Wagner  🙂

Thanks for sharing your memories of Vienna with us and the Christmas wishes! We hope you enjoyed your holiday season and want to wish you a Happy New Year!

I’m not sure if we’ll ever get around to covering “Edelweis” but I appreciate the suggestion and it reminded me of a version by the von Trapp great grandkids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEjLS0OHWnQ

The whole album that their version was recorded on, “Dream a little Dream”, is awesome if you are into that kind of music 🙂

It’s still funny to us how Sound Of Music is pretty much unknown in Austria, hardly anyone has seen the movie and we also only got introduced to it once we travelled to the US and watched it for the first time after moving to the UK.

    Stay groovy!

Hi Mona, that is interesting how Sound of Music is not very well known in Austria, and you saw it only after you left Austria.  I guess it’s kind of like how often it’s the tourists/visitor who know more of a cities famous attractions than the people who actually live there.  That’s the way it is with my city of Vancouver and me.  I’m always dreaming and planning to visit other places, while so many flock to my city saying how beautiful it is.

Vienna is one of the top cities I want to visit in the world.  For a classical music lover, going to Vienna would be like a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.  The other place at the very top of my list to visit would be Liverpool, and it’s not because of the Beatles.   🙂

I know what you mean Jung.

I know the Smithsonian as well as i do because relatives would come visiting

in the summer-time.  I have an update about The Sound of Music in Austria

but i won’t burden the twins with it for a couple of weeks.

The same can be said for Ottawa, sometimes….lol… alot of times its gets overlooked on things, because to some  foljs, it gets monikers as being ” too political  of a town”, “Government  Town”, etc, while it is has so much to offer , see, do, and in it’s  surrounding towns, etc outside the Ottawa Region and over on the Quebec side.. ( one can literally walk, ride, drive their way over to the Quebec side,  courtesy  of downtown Ottawa…. or keep going further east of Ottawa in about 40 mins, you can arrive at the Quebec border there,  take a ferry over to Quebec or go west of Ottawa about a 50 min drive, take a ferry to Quebec side… ????????????)

I loved going on drives with Dad to places between Ottawa and Montreal,  Ottawa to Toronto )

Heck, I’ve enjoyed being a tourist in my own city, learn stuff I didnt know about and/or never got an opportunity  to see before now…

Jacki, the last time I got to travel, September/October 2019, when I did my eastern Canada cruise I really wanted to see Ottawa before boarding the ship in Montreal, but just was one day too short.  I’ve been pretty much across Canada now from Victoria BC to Halifax NS, but Ottawa is highest on my list of places in Canada to visit.  Would love to see the parliament buildings and maybe a glimpse of Justin Trudeau.   🙂  And maybe visit my cousin who is a Senator.  A tour of the Canadian Senate chamber would be cool.

And you’re  forgetting.?!?!?!?. Something else, … Maybe you’d like to meetup with me for a tea at a Tim Hortons, and take a photo of us both sporting our MLT hoodies and tee-shirt while you’d be in Ottawa….????????

I’d pay good money (assuming I get to define what I mean by that term) to see a photo of Jacki and Jung together in their MLT gear, with this backdrop:

Of course The Parliament Bldngs, especially  around Centre Block or by Eternal Flame with Jung and myself decked out in our #MLTBuzzLuvGroovified  Swag Wears, would be iconic and classic and epic Groovy….lol… perhaps, it will occur one day, would like that opportunity if it presented itself.   But right now and the last few yrs, Parliament  Bldngs,  currently Centre Block, closed down for major renovation…????????

Has anyone ever taken the train all the way across?

    It’s on my list.

Has anyone seen “Festival Express” ?

Jacki, of course 🙂  That would be awesome to meet up, wouldn’t that be groovy, or if you ever happen to come out to Vancouver.  We’d have to find a couple of Mounties, preferably in red uniform, to pose with us in front of the parliament building for David’s photo of us!  🙂

Thomas, I believe there is a 4000KM coast to coast train across Canada that takes a week.  That would be a wonderful scenic trip.  A good friend of mine a few years back did the train from Vancouver to Halifax, with a side trip up to Churchill Manitoba where the polar bears roam on the Hudsons Bay, and then went from Halifax down to the Florida Keys all by rail.

Festival Express, wow never knew of that, cross Canada rock festival on a train!  Film looks interesting.

    What a photo op! 🙂

    Keep us informed.
