You read my mind Thomas. None can hold a candle to this for me.

You took the one that I was thinking of, Jung. Fun fact: that was actually just an early rehearsal on the vocal track. Micky and Davy started getting silly, and someone decided that recording would be more entertaining than if they went ahead and sang it as intended.
The only other dog-themed song that comes immediately to mind is this big hit from the Stone Age, but I’ll keep trying.

Leave it to Sesame Street to weigh in on this topic with an adapted Beatles song:

David, that one by the Monkees sound great, glad they kept that spontaneous recording.
And this old one is so sweet and iconic, thanks!

While I’m stuck in my childhood, here’s one with lyrics and vocals by Tom Lehrer, sung to the tune of a song from a Verdi opera:

You know guys,
if we’re listening to Monkees and a Cat romanticizing about having a dog,
maybe we ain’t getting out much. Blame it on Covid.
Just saying.

How can we leave out Pink Floyd’s “Dogs” off their 1977 album Animals? It’s a long one. Here it is with lyrics. https://youtu.be/qiaF4kuxJco
Earbuds in – volume 11
If you have a dog, no earbuds. Play it through your speakers and tell your dog to sit. Wait for it…trust me

It hasn’t been that long that i was aware this song was written for his dog.
All the above selections are worthy of reminiscing.
Thanks.

What’s special about this video clip is an unmentioned appearance by Peter Frampton.
See if you can spot it.
