The Liszt piano solo on guitar was beautiful.

Hi Lynne, that 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata I think was written for hard rock and roll, Beethoven might not have realized it at the time!  Ahead of his time.  Awesome video, thanks for sharing it.

Hi Thomas, I never heard Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody #2 done on guitar, that was brilliant.

    Hi Jung,

We were lucky enough to see Gilmour at Radio City on that tour. Crosby and Nash were there to sing backup.  I love how they just stand still and watch Gilmour when he is playing his solos.  I think this one might be from Royal Albert Hall?

Did you know that when Floyd originally recorded this song, the opening hum was done by rubbing wine glasses?   Here is a peek of how they did it.

Now go put the original album on and listen close.  Does it sound a little different now that you know it’s not a synthesizer?

    Shine on

WOW!  This is truly amazing.  I love watching musicians like this.  The guitar is part of him.  I was imagining he was looking at a big monitor on the floor as it was scrolling the sheet music for this piece.

I am starting to believe that the great ones were born with partitioned brains, so they could concentrate on all the different parts of a piece  like this.  How does he remember everything?  Practice, practice, practice.  His roommate probably wears a t-shirt that says,”stop playing the same song over and over and over”

He seems very humble when he bows at the end.  I like it when Mona and Lisa bow after performing.  It’s an old tradition that still shows class.
    ‘Thanks for sharing these.

Lol…okay, I had to include this link in this thread…..as the thread reminded me of this… btw–  for those that aren’t  familiar,  Wayne’s World movies are extensions of characters that were on Saturday Night Live… I own both movies , one on VHS tape and the sequel on DVD… Mike Myers  ( Wayne Campbell) is a Canadian actor. I loveboth movies !!

Hi JP, that wine glass effect is quite amazing, I never knew.  Now I will listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond with a little more insight into how they created such magnificent beauty.  I still remember the days in the 70s listening to that album on my dads super hi fi stereo system.  It just blew my mind, never heard anything that cool with the guitar.  Thanks for sharing that.  I’m glad you liked that Franz Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody guitar solo.  It’s a kind of 19th century Bohemian Rhapsody, and watching hearing it done on the guitar like that sent shivers when I saw it.  Whether you pull on the strings or strike on it, that music is just beautiful.  Did you know Franz Liszt, his virtuosity as a musician made him as famous as the Beatles in his day, they called his effect on his audience and fans “Lisztomania”, and when the Beatles came along a 100 years later, the term Beatlemania came from Lisztomania.   Anyway, a little trivia for the weekend.  🙂

Hi Jacki, good one, I saw Wayne’s World in the theater when it first came out.  They immortalized Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody I think.  I liked that scene in the guitar store.

Hi Jacki, Tia did a great job on that song.  The music in the film was as all superb.  There was a customer of mine at work not too long ago, and when they introduced him to me, his name Garth immediately conjured up an image of Wayne’s side kick character from this movie.

Here are some not as well known guitarist of Acoustic you can’t leave out. I think they are amazing. My take anyway.

Thomas –  Kristina Schiano  Cole Rolland are fantastic. Thanks for sharing. I will be checking them out more.

Kristina has the fastest feet on those bass drums. The fastest drummer with their feet was Ginger Baker I ever saw. She even faster. Wow!!!!

Awesome video Joe and some amazing finger work on the guitar. Some of those guitars used look pretty worn and battle scarred, but they must be nicely broken in over the years to produce that desired sound. I recognized a few of them. Enjoyed it, thanks for posting it.
