Classical Music
Posted by Paul Beattie on 22/02/2021 at 22:49Hi there Mona and Lisa,
As you are from the centre of the greatest music ever written, I wondered if you had any particular favourites..?I feel certain that Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms would have thoroughly enjoyed your music: with Beethoven enjoying ‘Waiting For The Waiter’ while in the coffee shop timing his 69 coffee beans to be ground [per cup I understand]. !
Best regards and thanks for putting such bright, cheerful edge on life…….
Paul.
PS: also the music of ‘Anton Karas’ the first man of the Zither [ The Third Man – Vienna 1949 ] P/:

Hi Paul,
That mental image of Beethoven enjoying “Waiting For The Waiter” is quite something. How great would it be to sit down over a “cuppa” with any of these guys!
Growing up in Vienna has definitely left its mark on us in terms of our appreciation for classical music. It’s never something we were particularly interested in but the fact alone that the music of these greats has always been part of our culture made us familiar with a lot of music that perhaps otherwise would have never even entered our radar.
We know there is still a vast world of classical music out there to explore, and there will be a time and place in our lives to delve into it more!
“The Third Man” soundtrack is an absolute classic. Tell me you can listen to that without smiling like an idiot! 😀
Have a great day! -
Everyone please check out Jung’s post about Beethoven’s influence on Rock&Roll.

Great question Paul!
Thomas, I think Beethoven was rolling over in joy to Chuck Berry, and everything that followed called Rock and Roll.Hi Mona, does that 2nd hand Austrian Zither album vinyl you got, get much air time these days? 🙂
I think there must be some Mozart in your DNA somewhere down the line! I am sure Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart if they were alive or are witnessing music today from the beyond, they would love what you and Lisa are doing! I can just imagine Beethoven’s smile as you and Lisa do your howling guitar riffs on Club 27 as Beethoven is the father of riffs, and Mozart weeping at the beauty of your Still A Friend of Mine. I think Bach would have enjoyed your guitar works on “Wish You Were Here”.
Stay groovy! ???????? -
Though I’m not a fan of Classical Music, to me it’s an acquirement ( most of my family aren’t keen on it either..lol), to learn to enjoy/like it, and/or a case of you either like it from get -go/don’t/ aquire the taste of /for it. For me, anytime I’ve heard it, it makes me sleepy, I have no patience to listen to it. I enjoy more zippy, fast tempo stuff, though I do enjoy ballads, slow paced rock n roll, contemporary, rock n roll, some other genres, but Classical is not one and probably never will be for me to embrace as it’s just not my cup of music tea… But if others find beauty in it, that’s great. I do like the instruments used, just not the pace… But MLT, can take a Classical piece and I’d enjoy it more because their interpretation would be more of my idea of Classical ????

Hi Mona and Lisa,
A touch of Modest Mussorgsky puts in an appearance on the opening track of the ”Orange Album” No More Worries Company – I’m sure would have met with Modest ‘s approval…! The back catalogue of music has never better than we have at present and is enhanced by your ‘covers’ of the revolution – circa 60s. : the originals are vibrant and will hold their place in history.Listening to Orange as I write….
Best regards and stay well….the whole club.
Paul.

I love Classical music!! My favorite is the Baroque period (especially Bach and Vivaldi). Just to name a few. I love Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Bach’s “Air on the G-String” (even if the title sounds like a cold pole dancer). I could go on and on. One more is Bach’s “Concerto for Two Violins”. I will have to say after seeing what Lisa can do with the Ukulele, it could be retitled “Concerto for One Violin and a Ukulele”

Hi Diana. I love Baroque period music. It has a supreme elegance. Vivaldi, Albinoni, Pachelbel, Handel, Bach etc so many great composers from that period. I think Bach’ Concerto for violin and Lisa’s Ukelele would be absolutely groovilicious! Did I invent a new word? ???? It would turn the classical music world upside down in the most wonderful way.
Or how about Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca for Ukelele? -
Jung,
I’m glad you love that music. Groovilicious didn’t pass the spell check (haha). I love that word!! I’m in awe of music that was made 400 years ago and we are still listening to it. The simplicity of the chord progressions fill my soul. From one night owl to another. You rock!!
