Feeling the music
Posted by Bill Isenberg on 26/02/2021 at 14:37So we all agree that the music Mona and Lisa give us is feel good music. But if you play an instrument or play in a band? It goes to another level for me. I have been in quite a few bands over the years in our area where we live and when you play in front of an audence it is so cool to see people having a good time and singing along and smiling. But when I listen to the live album? I picture me sitting in on the drums and when Mona or Lisa go into a lead? You will hear them take it up a level and say go Lisa or Take it away Mona and the level of music goes up a notch for me and my goodness I can jump out of my seat when that happens , it feels so good and cool. These ladies are pros and I totaly love their music covers and originals. Thank you Mona and Lisa for making me feel so great listening!! Your the groovest!!

I can feel them turning it up notch in Sunday Afternoon, makes me want to jump out of my seat too, and then in Kansas City, One More Time and Revolution to finish the set. From this live album, we can witness what absolute top notch performers Mona and Lisa are on stage!

Well put Jung,
I am blown away on how good Mona and Lisa are with leads on songs. She’s a woman stands out to me, wow Mona does a great job in the middle of the song and then at the end when they sing She’s a woman, both Lisa and Mona tear it up with leads going back and forth, my goodness I love listening to it. The same with Kansas City, and if you listen close you can hear Lisa say ” Alright” just when she goes into a lead. Jung I put this album up there with great live Albums such as Get Yer Ya Ya’a out by the Stones, Wings over America with Sir Paul. This album makes you feel so good and Mona and Lisa love what they do and they are not just there to play they are there are there to show their love for their craft and just 2 beautiful voices doing the music we love. -
Coming home today I had side 2 with Taxman as the opener and again this album is so energetic it is awesome. BOTH Mona and Lisa are so good and lift you into another dimension it is a great feeling. Jung I was loving yesterday ( Sunday ) because I played Lazy Sunday and man what a great tune and hearing Mona in the background as Lisa is singing is so cool to listen to. I am telling you if I ever see them live? Well I can just say I would be so happy and probably want to cry. Now I know how those girls felt in the 60’s with the Beatles and I mean cry with joy and happiness.

Hi Bill, that is what is so special about Mona and Lisa and their music, they can really make you feel the music. They bring out so much feeling in their music, and they play on stage with so much passion, watching them you are completely absorbed with the energy and excitement. I can’t wait for the day I can experience that in person at one of their live shows. After listening to some of the great albums highlighted in the WOTT sessions and others like Sargent Peppers, Pet Sounds, Rubber Soul, Revolver I put on my Orange vinyl, and wow it’s just as good. Truly talented song writers, singers and musicians carrying on the Rock and Roll tradition of inspired music creation that started in the 60s.

Jung,
100% AGREE!! You hit it out of the park with your post. The cool thing for me would be that you and Jacki, and Thomas and all the club members can be at the same show when we ever get a chance to see them live. And to point out another cool part of this live album? Listen to Drive My Car, wow they are so pumped with this opening number huh? And when Lisa kicks into the lead you can feel them taking it to another level!! Jung I can not believe how good these ladies are. They are a special breed of 26 year olds that love our music. Most kids in today’s world could care less and feel it is not good music which is ok, this is their generation but for us? That Mona and Lisa love this music is awesome to me. It is so good to have them pump new life into this music and to show the world, this music is standing the time 50 plus years later and beyond. -
In a dream world… I could hear MLT’s rendition of Dusty Springfield songs : ” Spooky” and ” Son of a Preacher Man”…to me both songs evoke a Groovy Funky Vibe… yes, I’m a Dusty Springfield fan…lol????

I’m a big Dusty fan too, Jacki. I grew to love I Only Want to Be with You, Wishin’ and Hopin’, and You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me separately on the radio before even knowing that they were all sung by the same person, so she won me over several times. What a powerful voice!

Jacki and David,
Spot on, Dusty Springfield was a super person and very talented with a beautiful Voice. A bit of trivia…..She sang back up on Elton John’s 1974 hit , that I don’t want to put the title because it is not suited with this post and will be deleted but if you have the Carbu album it is the first cut on side one. But it was one of many hits for Elton John. -
Here’s my favorite bit of Dusty trivia. In 1964 she was doing some concerts in London, and one night her opening act had to cancel, so she and her songwriter brother Tom held auditions for a last-minute replacement. They were so impressed by the winning group that Tom gave them the recording rights to a song he had recently written for Dusty. The group: the Seekers. The song: I’ll Never Find Another You.
