While words alone may be inadequate to properly express the meaning of life, I think you can find the answer in the great music, from the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, MLT, to the great classics.

There is also “No More Worries Company”, and “It’s Alright”.

Have you ever read any Douglas Adams? Spoiler alert – If I remember correctly, the answer to Life the Universe and Everything is forty-two.

JP, I’ve heard of the Hitch Hikers Guide To the Galaxy, but never read the book or seen the movie. I think I will that you mentioned it, and the video clip David posted does pique my curiosity.

I had an interesting video screen capture clip from one of my fave 90s TV series Northern Exposure on the “Meaning Of life” that I started this post on that ties it to music brilliantly, but the Youtube copyright police blocked my video. I’ll have to find another means of showing it.

    Fare and be well now,
let your life proceed by it’s own design,
Nothing to tell now – let the words be yours as i am done with mine
    (Cassidy)

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
    (Ripple)

Everyone please forgive me but long live the Grateful Dead

Mike, I think love is a big piece of the puzzle indeed.
Thomas, those lyrics sound interesting. Grateful Dead songs? Will check them out.

I always liked this John Lennon song, and the lyrics.

Jung, you HAVE to read / watch / listen to the Hitchhiker’s Guide! (It was originally a radio series, which can also be found on YouTube.) It’s an enthralling mix of science fiction adventure, snarky social satire, and understated British humor.

I loved the book of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy! Remember to always carry a towel! And thanks for all the fish!

    I knew this was coming.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has been on my list since college.

    Shame on me. Someday soon.

    Ah, we’re geeking out now!

The first paragraph of the book really sets the tone. See if this whets your appetite for more:

“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”

Continuing this theme … may i recommend
Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan
    and
Uncle John’s Band by the Grateful Dead

“Well the first days are the hardest days
    Don’t you worry anymore
Cause when life looks like Easy Street
There is danger at your door

    Think this through with me
    Let me know your mind
Woah-ho what I want to know
    Is are you kind?”

Great post. How about the song from 1969 In the Year 2525. Wow how much of that is happening today in 2021? I know this may be off the track here a bit, but everything I read is awesome. I also feel that we all meet each other thru life for a reason. I was on vacation a number of years ago and met up with a guy who was retired and we talked every day like we knew each other and I learned a lot from him, and when we left to go home? He said See you on the other side…wow
