Rare Beatles
Posted by Jung Roe on 20/03/2021 at 11:00Here are some rare Beatles videos. Now, what is rare Beatles to me might not necessarily be rare to all, but here it is anyway. Share any Beatles videos or footages you think is rare here.
Here is a nice George song I haven’t heard or seen before.

You’re right, Jung: what is rare to some is essential to others. These clips are from the Beatles’ first two movies, “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Help!”. I saw both of those before I had even so much as heard a Beatles song on the radio, so all the songs from them form the foundation of my fandom.
Here’s a song that I love from their third movie, “Magical Mystery Tour”, that doesn’t get a lot of attention. I couldn’t find an uncut version of it on YouTube, so I had to resort to Vimeo:

Here’s a treat, Dusty chatting it up with George on the UK show .. ” Ready Steady Go”
-
And a rehearsal appearance on another episode of ” Ready Steady Go”….

Here’s something pretty rare: Paul giving a live performance of what was probably the shortest Beatles song ever. And notice who’s in the audience!

Jacki, David these are great, thanks for posting them! On that first video I’ve seen clips of the Beatles dressed in their tuxedos walking down the stairs but not the whole video. It’s like seeing another side of them, and really liked the ballroom atmosphere with the girls in all those 60s style ballroom dresses. It’s another classy romantic time of the 60s, of my parents generation, you just don’t see anymore. That second video of George and Dusty is so funny, George is so witty and clever with his responses. “its a real wig”, LOL. 🙂

All great post. Here’s mine from The Beatles Live At Nippon Budokan Hall Japan 1966. Sorry for Twin Screen. I could not find a single screen one. Still good.
The interesting thing about this show the Beatles don’t look too Happy. Especially Ringo. I remember there was controversy about them playing in Budokan Hall. It was only used for Martial Arts and they were given hell from the elder Martial Arts population. Which was strange since the Japanese booked them to perform there. I remember that I think George said it was the most orderly crowd they ever performed too.-
Hey Joe, that live performance in Japan video is awesome, really great color video quality and sound. I really enjoyed seeing “If I Needed Someone” done live by the Beatles, and “Baby’s In Black” felt like the Beatles were doing an MLT cover! like in Will’s post “Time travel proved”. LOL. It made “me Feel Fine”! Thanks, enjoyed it.

Seeing that old fashioned printer paper going reminded me of the late 80s/early 90s at my old work where we had many work stations printing service ticket logs 7 X 24 continuously to keep record of all the logs on paper. I don’t know how many trees they went through over the years. Nowadays several years worth of logs can be saved on files that fit on a DDR solid state memory chip the size of a pinky finger nail.
Seeing this video, it makes me appreciate all the time, sweat and rough edges that musicians have to go through for that final studio track that sounds so perfect.

Hey Jung,
I love this kind of stuff seeing a group work on perfection. Even the final product will have flaws in it. But that what makes music so great. No one is perfect. Enjoyed your comments Jung especially on the printing paper.
Oh that is some pocket watch you have. Amazing it still works. If only that watch could talk. The stories it would tell of all the owners. -
A rare one with George playing a HDN Red Rickenbacker.
-
Hey Joe
Georges Red Rickenbacker looks magnificent. Those red Rickenbacker guitars have what Rickenbacker calls the Fireglo that look so beautiful.
These old 8mm home movies are priceless. The video looks like your everyday high school dance band playing in the gymnasium stage, but it’s the Beatles on stage!
