David, great video. Always interesting to hear about how the legends do their craft, or magic. No specific process or method to song writing, but with a spontaneous element to it and an underlying love of writing. In some of the Ask The MLT subforum, Mona and Lisa echoed similar sentiments about their song writing. In other videos about creativity I’ve heard from both John and Paul, and other great song writers, there is a subconscious element they talk about where everything comes to them when they let go after working on a song. You can’t force inspiration. It was also interesting to hear about how initially they started off enjoying just listening to songs, then formed the band to start doing covers of songs they liked early on, and then getting to a point where they started writing their own songs so that other bands that would perform before them don’t do a cover song they were going to do. They wrote their own songs so others would not have access to their songs.
