    Mona and Lisa,
Hello and hope this finds you and Pa Pa and Michelle well. I have a question about song writing. Is it harder to write a bridge to a song? To me i would think you come up with a melody in your head and go with that but then you have to insert a bridge so it that a hard thing to do? I feel it is unique to come up with one that blends with the music and I feel you both do a great job of that on your original music.

    Hi Bill!
You are right, the bridge is quite often the tricky bit of a song, especially if we start working on it once the rest of the song is already completely finished. It’s a bit like “Alright, what we have so far is quite good, now we need to add another part without ruining it all”! 🙂

So yes, your guess is quite accurate there, and it sometimes takes us a few tries to get a bridge right.

I read once that Lennon would frequently write the bridge for Paul’s songs and vice versa. It was just another part of the magic they could create together as a song writing duo.

Thank you Mona for replying and I have always thought the success of a song is the bridge. I feel you both do such a great job with the bridge of your original songs and it blends in so nice. Wow I feel you both are so gifted with your song writing and playing, I am at amazement each time I hear a song or watch a viedo on U Tube

Back in the day they called the bridge the “Middle 8”. The Beatles refered to the middle 8 quite a lot back in the day. Not sure if it was just a British saying or not.
