“I feel such a creative force in me….I am doing my very best to make every effort because I am longing so much to make beautiful things. But beautiful things mean painstaking work, disappointment and perseverance.”

I did not know Van Gogh’s complete story.
Is there any great art that doesn’t come from troubles souls?BioGraphics has a ton of stuff.
Look what i found. -
Thomas, nice biographics on Da Vinci! Thanks for posting it. Interesting story about the Mona Lisa painting and how it was one he did for himself and not for commission and how he carried it around everywhere continuously working on it, adding to it, that became the most famous in the world. I didn’t know of the rivalry between him and Michelangelo and how both disliked each other.
Angelo, that 1991 movie of Van Gogh looks appealing. Couldn’t find it on netflix, but hopefully can find it somewhere else. Looks like there were a few movies about Van Gogh over the years.
Here is a revealing essay on Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting that give some insight into it.
“Van Gogh’s painting is the most wonderful interpretation of human suffering into something beautiful and perhaps beyond the frame of words…” I never knew Van Gogh’s vision was color deficient that made him see things differently. -
Interesting that this came up now since we just saw this at the Museum of Fine Arts here in Houston:

Jim, that David Hockney “Woldgate Vista” painting is just gorgeous with those pastel colors. The Hockney – Van Gogh exhibition sounds like a great exhibition to see. I’ve always enjoyed Thomas Kinkade (painter of light), got one of his prints hanging in the house that I got as a gift years ago. Discovered him in the many small town art galleries along the west coast during my road trips. The MLT Vincent video not only blew me away with it’s beauty, but led me to discover Van Gogh and his beautiful creations even more. I always was fascinated by his Starry Night painting, but learning more about him and his artistic life journey helps me to appreciate his art even more.

When I see the Starry Night painting my mind always wants to insert the guy from The Scream into it. And of course now it’s been done on-line:

Those videos are very interesting and heart breaking. I’m a jail nurse and frequently deal with everything mentioned in Van Gogh’s story (EVERYTHING). I’m so passionate about mental health parity. I can’t even get started or I’ll be here all night. ‘Vincent’ is such a beautiful song and the girls never cease to amaze me. I think most of the time their covers are better than the originals.

That is very kind of you!!! I’ll tell you, I’m looking forward to retiring in less than 2 years and starting a new chapter. I do have some unbelievable stories.

MLT inject so much beauty in their music, whether an original or cover. It’s the way they play and express their passion in the singing. I never realized the true beauty of the Starry Starry Night art work until this MLT cover. Their music makes me realize how much beauty is around us if we choose to accept it and see it.
https://youtu.be/fB0j_Uz930UI forgot all about this poem I posted a long time ago at the forum about an account I had on a cruise one night off the coast of Mexico a few years ago. Listening to MLTs Starry Starry Night reminded me of it. I’ve only seen a shooting star a handful of times in my life and this was the last time I saw one which is what this poem is about. The beauty of MLT’s Starman when they released it made me express this poem out of nowhere.

“An MLT Starman inspired poem:Starry Night
Sometimes in my life,
I would look up at the clear night sky,
In wonder and amazement.
Where does the universe end?
Is there life out there?
Endless questions,
Curiosity never satisfied. The light reaching my eyes,
Traveled thousands, if not millions of light years,
And I’m just seeing it now, like a window to the past,
And the stars I see,
May be ghosts, faded long ago.
What unknown worlds and lives are out there,
In the vast universe?
It’s all so mind boggling.
It never ceases to amaze.I remember one evening I looked out at the stars
And thought to myself,
Where are the ones we loved and lost?
I thought about my Mom and dog Max.
“Where are you both, I miss you”,
I whispered gently.
At that moment 2 shooting stars,
Streaked across the night sky.
I cried.The starry night sky,
beautiful and mysterious.
I yearn and long to know it’s secrets.
Maybe one day to be revealed,
But today, I wonder in amazement and awe!MLT’s Starman, reminds me of that awe and wonder.
What a remarkable song and video.”
