Olympics
Hello, ladies!
The Summer Olympics just wrapped up, and I was wondering if you rooted for athletes from Austria, Great Britain, or perhaps The Netherlands with their awesome orange unis. Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t find time to watch, with two incredible albums in the works! Many athletes from many different countries had compelling backstories, so it was easy to pull for individual humans, regardless of origin country.

Unfortunately we didn’t have (or take) much time to watch a lot of the Olympic games. We found out about the Austrian cyclist Anna Kiesenhofer winning gold in a spectacular fashion only in retrospect. It seems that for Austria it is often the lone warriors that don’t depend on unions and institutionalised “support systems” that seem to go the furthest. Whether that’s in the sports or the arts 🙂
Congrats to the States for bringing home the most medals! You must be proud of your athletes ♥

Hi, Lisa! The Anna K. story is very compelling, and I’m very happy for her! Similar in some ways, an American woman took bronze in the women’s marathon in only her third marathon. My favorite American medal was the last one by the women’s volleyball team. The setter and one outside hitter attended the nearby University of Illinois, so I stayed up late to see them clinch the gold! Always proud of and spoiled by America’s athletes’ accomplishments, but it’s more about individual stories no matter where the athletes are from!
