The worlds first ROCK STAR
Posted by Jung Roe on 11/06/2022 at 10:19Beethoven was the worlds first rock star, and here is why.
I found this fascinating video, advanced to the section where it shows Beethoven truly paved the way for todays modern Rock Stars.

When I was younger, instrumental music always felt incomplete by itself without the singing and lyrics which conveyed for me the actual message or meaning of a song, so I thought at the time.
In this interesting excerpt from the video, it explains how instrumental music was elevated to the point of being able to convey the same level of emotional insight as music with lyrics.

In this instrumental piece, I agree the guitar by itself expresses everything it needs to express, all the emotions, without any lyrics.

One of the things that inspire me a lot with Beethoven, is he is all about triumphing over tragedy. His music, like the 5th Symphony is all about fate knocking at the door, and overcoming it. His own life is a story of triumphing over a disability, his deafness.
In Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, that iconic famous 4 note motif is fate knocking at the door, but by the end of the Symphony, that same 4 note motif is transformed into one of beauty and joy. My mother use to tell me when she was young she faced great sadness with the death of her father, and the break out of the Korean War. She use to take solace listening to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. It helped her weather the storm of those tragic times. Later when I grew older and learned more about Beethoven and the 5th Symphony, I could understand why that piece of music was so special to her.
In this section of the video, it talks about Beethoven and his suffering with deafness and how he overcame it through his dedication to his music, and the 5th Symphony.
The whole point of this thread is not necessarily about Beethoven, but rather how music can make such a big difference in ones life and pull you out of a dark place. For me my 5th Symphony is MLTs San Francisco and The Wide, Wide Land.

I love that rebellious ROCK STAR and independent artist spirit of Mona and Lisa. This independent artist spirit, artists standing for what they believe in and not influenced by the princes/aristocracies, music industry and record labels, carries forward from Beethoven onto all the great rock artists of the 60s like the Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Who, Kinks etc…and into the future with MLT. Ludwig would be very proud songs like Jump Ship, I Bought Myself A Politician, Summer Rain, and Waiting For The Waiter etc…are still being created in the 21st Century by heroic artists like Mona and Lisa. The ROCK STAR spirit is lives on strong today as MLT carry on that torch of great inspired music creativity into the future.
