I would love to hear some of your alternative lyrics. Some of you may not know that I’m a jail nurse and gallows humor comes with the job.

Good topic idea…lol…I’ve done this in my gead with MLT, Glass Tiger, etc and just abiut every other song I like…I’ll start thinking of different lyrics in my head and fisrt thing you know…I’m singing my version…lol ….only the problem is….I’ve never thought to write anything down…it ‘s all spur/spontaneous at the moment so, in a way that’s a challenge for me…I’d have to hear the song with one device, then record myself singing it before I could write anything down and/or…have original lyrics in front of me, and sing along as I read them and coneup with parodying them…lol…but…give me time….I could take a stab at this…do you mean a particular MLT song or any MlT song or non-MLT song ?!….

Diana, it’s funny you should ask this.
Some time ago i suggested to the Twins that they have a poetry contest in the club to help write a song.
This went nowhere.
But i had a poem all ready. It sort of fits this topic.
Here we go ,,,
I though harmony was just a fairy tale.
Whenever i would hum the skies would rain.
Discord was all around me, singing caused me pain.
It always seemed to lead to a sad refrain.
But then i heard their voice. Now i’m a believer.
There’s no other choice, no doubt in my mind.
Singing songs .. wooooooooooooooooo
What a relief – being able to achieve sweet harmony.

Now when we’re together birds are singing.
Their songs of love make such a sweet refrain.
That’s why i feel fine, almost all the time.
It’s just like a stroll down Penny Lane.
Maybe i need to get out of house more.
Yours is much better. I know that you care about them.
You just need an attitude adjustment on occasion.

When I attended my first Monkees concert I bought a souvenir program that included the lyrics to a few songs, so that even casual fans could sing along. And so help me, the lyrics for I’m a Believer said “when I needed sunshine on my brain”. Worst unintentional parody ever!

I’ve written a lot of parodies about the woes of being a community college instructor. Here’s a Beatles parody that turned out pretty well:

verse 1:
When I teach my class, you’re never there.
Don’t you want to pass? Why don’t you care?
I could be your friend, if you would just attend.
I cannot comprehend why you won’t see me.

If you need some aid, that’s why I’m here.
You’d improve your grade if you’d appear.

I probably screwed up on that…but I tried… as I’ve said I do better at singing the song parodies while listening to originals as opposed to writing them down…lol..just easier for me but writing poetry, that’s a different thing, that is natural for me too,but I don’t always have something on hand to write/type the words and I’ve lost some potential poetry as a result…lol or trying to save them at library on their public computers at the time,back in the day, time was up on my computers use, lost poem, couldn’t save it…. forgot what the poem was by the time I got home….to write it down….
