Thanks for sharing that Alan! It’s so special and wonderful when a legend keeps the flame going, inspiring us with their music and passion.

You can feel so much love in the crowds screams for our music legends. Here is a performance by Paul Simon at Newport. Listening to Paul’s stirring performance of Sounds of Silence, I couldn’t help but reflect on the fact Mona and Lisa honour our heroes with such beauty and superb justice in their covers so as to solicit praise from the original artists, John Sebastien, Pete Townsend, Ray Davies etc… Mona and Lisa carry on the torch of creating great music in their amazing originals and superb covers.

I thought Joni Mithcell’s recent health issues prevented her from singing, or at least limiting her capabilities or gas she fully recovered, I must of been under a rock where she’s concerned because last time I saw/read, her health was poorly and could not sing at tge time…. but I’m happy she continues on best she can …

You’re correct Jacki. Joni has had health issues for many years, and had a brain aneurysm in 2015. This was her first full live performance for 20 years and apparently she has relearnt a lot of her songs through watching youtube videos.

There are some clips of her at Newport on youtube now, obviously a very different performance, almost a re-imagining of her music.

Great to see her well enough to perform again though, like you, I had thought she probably wouldn’t do another show.

How ironic, I just saw this on twitter and came over here to see if anyone else saw it. I found myself waiting for Mona’s harmonies on the first listen. This song can make me a little misty, but this is on a whole different level.

I love Joni’s laughter. This is one of those moments in time to cherish forever.

Joni’s quiet voice is so strong singing a song from another time. That has got to be such a thrill to be embraced by the world for ‘your’ song. Lisa and Mona are getting to know that feeling.

Joni is 79? I am thinking The MonaLisa Twins could sing “Still A Friend Of Mine” when they are 79. Let’s see, 79-28= 51 and that would be…carry the one…108 for me. Well a gypsy told me I would live to be 100, so maybe I will just shoot for the moon. Hmm, 64-28=36, 57+36=93, so when the MonaLisa Twins are 64, I hope they do another version of “When I’m 64”. That would still leave me seven years to rack up a gazillion views.

Mona’s harmonies are so kool. Earbuds are recommended. Their sound engineer really knows what he is doing. Mona’s blues harp sneaks in out of nowhere. I love how it fades in ever so slowly.
