The magic of Any Other Day
“Any Other Day” from the album Why? transports me to such a wonderful place, that I don’t want to leave! It pulls at my heartstrings, such an absolutely timeless and beautiful song! Those lyrics raises goose bumps. Genius song writing.
It perfectly captures that incredible special feeling when you find that perfect someone meant for you, and what is so remarkable is how MLT captured that incredible feeling and expressed it so beautifully and perfectly in a song. That is magic, and I think the highest achievement in music!

Very well stated!! I love the whole album, but my vital signs changed when I heard ANY OTHER DAY. It lifted my heart and soul to the magical place where music can take you sometimes

“Any Other Day” is an absolute gem of a song, with perfectly crafted lyrics and a lilting melody that carries you along like a carriage ride through the park on a beautiful spring day, sitting next to the one you love. It would’ve been a monster hit for The Carpenters in 1970, but not even Karen Carpenter could’ve outdone Lisa singing this lovely tune. And of course she would not have had the luxury of Mona providing her enchanting supporting vocals, not to mention that absolutely captivating flute accompaniment.
Why? is a major achievement with many powerful and important songs, but again and again I am drawn back, like a bee to a flower, to the simple beauty of the gorgeous “Any Other Day.”

I adore both songs, the sublime beauty of Any Other Day, and the breathtaking magnificence of Why? I agree, Lisa’s singing on Any Other Day is so enchanting, she is second to none along with Mona as singers. Between Any Other Day and Why?, both my favourites on the album, and I’d be hard pressed to choose between the two, it could go either way depending on the day.

Since my first few listenings of the album my brain has established a new internal 24/7 radio station which plays only two songs: Why? and Any Other Day. No matter what I’m doing or thinking about, I’m always hearing one or the other.
It’s interesting that those songs get along so well in my head, because the characters they portray would in real life be roommates from hell if they lived together: one constantly railing against the demise of free society, and the other constantly gushing about her new boyfriend.

That’s funny, David. Jump Ship has settled in my brain today. I will try to listen to something else to purge it from my mind. Why?
