A blast from the past, Lanzarote
I remember after the first Advent you went silent for a week, and then came back with these amazing shots, and we all learned you were in Lanzarote creating some amazing videos. Some fond MLT moments from a few years ago.

Hahaha, great shot. Mona and Lisa both have a spark in their eye with their morning coffees as they realize they are here in a beautiful place, about to kick off an amazing work holiday!

In one of the comments MLT said Lanzarote is one of their favourite places on earth, and I can see why from the incredible natural beauty of the terrain. I love the barren beauty of a desert or rocky mountain range, ocean, or frozen ice landscape, there is something very pure, raw, and truthful about it that is appealing to me.
I saw a recent photography video and they featured Lanzarote, and from the MLT photos from the Starman shoot, and the behind the scenes video of Once Upon A Time, and the photography video, some of the volcanic mountain ranges on the island look not unlike the terrain of the WHY? album cover. Lanzarote has breathtaking AWEsome natural beauty.

Thanks, I haven’t watched that BTS video in a while. Rudi speaks. These BTS videos are of the same high quality as their music videos. I was thinking these music videos could actually be Wagner vacation videos. OK, we are at one of the most beautiful places on earth. What can we do to make our vacation video stand out? Hmm, let’s make a music video to show off these amazing landscapes. When someone asks if you want to see their vacation pictures, you politely agree and add a few oohs and aahs. But when the Wagners ask, it is a resounding , “Yes, please!” Their photography skills could be a separate gig on it’s own. The sky is not the limit with this crew.

Yeah agree, MLT behind the scenes and travel video and photo shoots are so well done and engaging, they provide a real experience of the place. I can’t help but feel a connection to Lanzarote, it feels almost like I’ve been there, and I feel the same way about their Hamburg trip.

Threads like this remind me that I still have a lot of the site I haven’t seen yet. I’ve only been a member for 5 weeks, and Mother Nature took a couple of those away this winter.
That’s just a great video. Of course, it helps being in a place where “point camera in random direction” yields yet another incredible shot.
Every time I watch the Once Upon a Time Video, one of my favorite songs and videos, I have a reaction when I see how close they are to the edge of the wall of that caldera.
Fortunately they always end up okay(!). Reminds me of sitting on the rim of the Grand Canyon way long ago.
Putting on my Marketing hat, I think Turismo de Islas Canarias should be paying Team MLT for spreading the word about these beautiful islands.

I remember at the Grand Canyon at night, the canyon bowl is pitch black, and the stars above it was absolutely brilliant, I think Lanzarote must be like that at night if you go out towards the desert area. I love barren landscape like that, there is amazing purity, and you get closer to the truth, whatever that is.

I found a pic of Lanzarote night sky on the web, but I don’t think it’s as good as that shot of the Milky Way at the end of the Starman video, where it’s not hard to imagine he’s up there looking back.
I was only at the Grand Canyon for an hour. I sat quietly near the rim and just absorbed it. But not at night.
I live in Michigan where there are a handful of designated “dark sky” parks which are each on the shore of a Great Lake. I haven’t been to one yet, but I’ll get there.

I never knew that about the remarkable night starry sky in Michigan. I lived in Toronto near one of the great lakes years ago, and never noticed the starry sky in particular, but then that area is so urban with city lights stretching almost continuously from Toronto through Hamilton all the way to Niagara. With Michigan situated between the 3 lakes I can see how that can happen. On some cruises late at night when the ship is in the ocean away from any artificial ambient light flooding the sky, you can see a beautiful canopy, and I can see how the old sailors used their sextants to navigate with the stars and using the North Star as a point of reference of north.
Gazing at the starry sky is magical, I can and have done that for hours, and caught a couple of very special shooting stars once. ✨✨

Speaking of the Grand Canyon, I think Mona and Lisa once noted that they took a side trip there during their California visit. Does anyone recall whether they posted any photos from that excursion? I’m drawing a blank.

It was from their 2007 trip to California. Love Mona and Lisa’s young baby faces, just transforming from cute kids to beautiful young adults.

Ah, that makes much more sense geographically. I’m always confusing the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and Yellowstone in my head. Never been to any of them, but hope to see at least one of them some day.
