This weekend where I am in Vancouver smells like a giant camp group with scent of burning wood all around. The sun shines through the hazy smoky sky casting a somewhat ominous orange glow everywhere. Our province of BC declared a state of emergency as numerous massive out of control wildfires burn in the north, and a couple hours away to the east in Kelowna BC, and a few hours to the south in Washington State around Spokane are ablaze with properties and precious homes lost. It’s now the worst fire season in the history of this province. This seems to be our new reality with the climate change.

Summer Rain sounds so gooood! I’m not a fan of rain nor the 9 months of seasonal rain forest climate the Pacific Northwest is known for, but I welcome it and am attracted to the fresh scent of pine in the damp autumn and winter months.

I love MLTs WHY? because it is an album that touches upon so much of our reality today, from the imaginative space travel of Janitor Joe and the new discoveries the James Web Telescope brings, to the feel of a cool refreshing summer rain, to the obscurity of the global landscape that Jump Ship. WHY? and If You Raise Your Head resonate and the feel of wanting to escape to new better places of Destination Sunrise. Then there are songs like Songbird, Any Other Day and Pretty Little Thing that ground us and remind us what is most precious of all despite all the issue around us. There is so much to this masterpiece album.

Hi Jung! Lots of back & forth the last few days! I’m just south of you near Seattle, & we’ve been lucky this summer with no smoke — until now! We’re starting to get the Eastern Washington smoke today. I feel very sorry for all the people that have suffered, lost homes, etc. while many have died!
We as a unified planet, (I HOPE that will happen sometime SOON,) MUST get it together and come up with some effective solutions to the Human-Generated Climate Problems that are only getting worse. Profit is NEVER more important than peoples’ lives! C’mon people now!

I agree with everything you just said about the MLT’s & their new CD entitled “WHY?” of Original Songs. We need to collectively “Raise Our Heads,” look around, get the facts, stop the Political Arguments, & find Peaceful Solutions that work for EVERYBODY! And, “We the People” means EVERYONE! The MLT’s do a lot to bring Happiness, while making people think, with their thoughtful & interesting lyrics & melodies. We need more people like them in the World! PEACE YA’LL, and thanks Jung for your comments! And to the MLT’s, thanks for everything you do! You’re the BEST!

    Sincerely, Bud Jackson

Hey Bud, and neighbour! I had no idea you are just a couple hours south of me. I love Seattle, use to go down there on weekends all the time. Even lived there when I was little for a little bit, and a lot of fond memories as a kid as my dad took us there often when we lived in eastern Washington State in the 60s before we moved to Canada. Seattle Centre and the Space Needle are special places for me.

Eloquently said about the state of affairs in the world, and how MLT’s WHY? resonate so well with everything going on in our world and new reality. I love not only their music, but their view of the world and willingness to state things as they see it. They are my heroes in so many ways. Brilliant new music they are creating, just like the Beatles never repeating themselves. Pioneers.

Just heading out the door, but thanks for all the music links, here enjoyed them!

    Hey again Jung!

You don’t need to reply to this. I’ve gotta get outside & do some work, and Practice too — can’t neglect that! Thanks again for your comments! Vancouver BC is also a beautiful, & special city! And my grandfather was a Mounted Policeman around the turn of the century. I have a a sharp-shooting trophy he won in 1899! He was originally from Ontario. I have 54% British Isles Ancestry, & also Norwegian, French/German, Danish, etc. I was born in Honolulu, so I feel more International in my Global Perspective. And my wife & daughter are into BTS! (But also The Beatles, & other Music!)

    Take care! — Bud Jackson

I hope you guys, and everyone else, are okay out there. Been a smoky year for sure.

I check the air quality at airnow.gov almost every day.

Be careful what you wish for though; Hilary is the first tropical storm warning ever issued for southern California, and it is coming your way. A storm like that might dump on you in a big way.

      Good luck.

I hope everyone is staying safe out there. Been a bad summer in many parts of Canada and U.S. I feel very fortunate to be in the Midwest where it’s been very warm and quite dry but at least we’re not on fire. This is the first time I can remember getting air quality warnings here in cow country. Usually the worst we get is having to smell the “dairy air”. Sorry, bad joke. I like the Summer Rain from Mona and Lisa but we all could use a little from Mother Nature too. Take care everyone.

    Thanks Bud, Chris, Tim!

A couple weeks ago went to visit a friend up near Kamloops BC, and there was a massive 6000 hectare wild fire about 20 KM away from my friends place. This is what it looked liked from the highway in the car as we drove along, and what a lot of British Columbia looks like in the north. Fortunately it has not moved and my friend said it started raining, and the massive wildfire in Kelowna BC that has burned many homes has subsided a little bit the last couple days.. So thankful for the Summer Rain. Certainly not out of the woods yet as there is still another month of the fire season left.

The smoke has lifted where I am in Vancouver.

Yikes, that looks bad and too close for comfort. Don’t put yourself into a bad situation, stay safe friend.
