JP, That’s a great song but did he ever say where he was parked at? Maybe I missed it, Lol.

I’m not good at writing lyrics, but this song gives me hope that I can write a song!🎸🎤

Based on the helpful (and totally real-looking) road sign in the photo, I’ve deduced that the singer is parked in Encino, New Mexico (population 51), which has no lake and in fact is known as the “city of dust”. You can read all about it here:

OMG I have been afk for a while. I was parked down by the lake, you know the one by Santa Fe. Your responses are hilarious. I am going to try and talk Marlo into a gag. We are going to my nephew’s wedding in May. Wouldn’t it be funny to get the DJ to play this for the bride and groom? No introduction, except for a short tear jerking dedication, and cue song. The expressions will be priceless, or we may have to make a quick getaway?

Hope everyone had a groovy heaping of pie,

    JP

    Hi JP

Speaking of silly country songs, this very silly one I’ve known since I was young, and I could call it a favourite silly song. It was a track on one of my dad’s old albums American folk songs, and I use to ask for him to put this one on. Here is a Blues Brother version. This version is missing the whip sound effects at the end. The original was better.

Hi Jung, I remember that song. Wasn’t it used in a bunch of commercials and stuff? The Blues Brothers make every song funny.

This show was a little before my time but I think I remember seeing it in syndication at my cousin’s house. They lived over the mountain on the other side of the river. I bet you thought I was going to say down by the lake.

That is the original version I remember JP: HAHAHA 👍😀 Thanks for posting the show, will have a watch. A couple hours north of where I am we have cattle country, and there are some small country highways around the ranches where it’s not uncommon to see cows grazing in the fields, and occasionally they are right down by the road and you have to slow down. It’s a beautiful area I enjoy exploring.

“Head em up, move em out!”. Haven’t enjoyed an old black and white western classic in a long time. A young Clint Eastwood does a grand performance! The story of a cupids arrow striking a young man’s heart is timeless, even in the classic westerns.

Most people – not all – realize Elton John was poking fun with this one. He pretty much insulted everyone.

Lots of songs and genres can be called silly. But there are some that can be called outright bad. In the Country category, one that comes to mind is Achy Breaky Heart. Of course that is a personal prejudice/belief, but I wouldn’t even dignify that with posting a video of it. Thousands of musicians starve and struggle to record anything and that got a tone of airplay and gained lots of popularity (I don’t really know how but it did) and stuff like this is allowed to proliferate…😂

I will never understand why that aching song got so popular.

I blame the accompanying dance. In terms of requisite degree of coordination, it ranks right up there with the alley cat, the hustle, and the macarena.

Ladies and gentleman, I found the official video parked down by the lake (Rated PG for smoking, drinking and poor grammar)
