    Hi;

    I am Michael from the Boston area in the US. I first noticed MLT when I was looking for some Beatles videos on YouTube in 2015vand saw they were covering the Beatles. So I said, “Why not??” and played one of the covers. From there I played more and more of their videos and was hooked.

    One fact about myself is that I do play the mandolin but it has been a while since I played it in front of people. I have a Fender E/A mandolin and I even have a teeny, tiny capo to go with it. Hi to all and keep playing good music!!

    Mike

    Yeah! Hi Mike, thank for joining us here! Had to google what a mandolin capo looks like and now I want one and we don’t even own a mandolin. They are tiny and adorable! Do you play it in the usual G-D-E-A tuning? We’ve never worked with that tuning or gotten the hang of it but are always intrigued by the differences in string instruments.
    Hope you’ll have loads of fun here at the MLT Club 🙂

      Hi Lisa. You are most welcome about me joining here. This site is really so extensive and fun. I usually play the mandolin tuned at G-D-E-A (same tuning as the violin, I think). Shubb carries the mandolin capo. I have used the mandolin in the past when we wanted to make certain songs have more of a country sound or can be used in the background of a song to add to the rhythm guitar. Also, playing the mandolin can require more cross-picking to get the most out of it.

      I hope you get one soon because they are fun to play. Like I said above I have a Fender E/A mandolin, but I ran across one mandolin in a store that had fret lengths the same size as the guitar to make it easier to play. Some chords on the mandolin are hard to do if our fingers are a little “fat”…so these bigger frets would make things easier. But, this particular mandolin sold for around $1,500 and that is quite a lot for a mandolin.

      I really enjoy the Clubhouse…there are so many interesting things to read and listen to. And, I look forward to more good music from MLT. Have a good week. Mike.
