Vocalists from BAM 2 & 3
This is kind of a repeat of an earlier question about the songs from Orange but could you single out the lead vocals on the new CDs (unless you included that info on the CDs in which case I can wait.) Mona’s lead vocals on the Best Years are the best I’ve heard from her- that song reminds me of Falling Slowly (which won an Oscar) by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova except it’s much better.
In taking my lead from Lisa- I’m through comparing you girls or trying to pick out a favorite- I adore both of you! I always thought good looking, talented women were supposed to be a bit stuck up. You are both miserable failures at that. (: -

Yep Tim! No ones perfect, even the MonaLisa Twins it seems. One of your earliest posts was about comparing the twins but no one bought into it, as I expected!

Lisa asked me who I thought sang lead on each song for Orange so I’m going to take a shot at it. Mona on 64, Maxwell, Best Years. Glass Onion, You Really Got Me. I’m not very good at this. Obviously watching videos gave it away a few times.
Mona is the best harmony vocalist I’ve ever heard. She just enriches Lisa’s voice so much! God Only Knows and Morning are great examples of that. Simon and Garfunkel eat your heart out, there’s a new sherriff in town.

Hi Jung. Me too. Got that one wrong. Always thought it was Mona that went high when Lisa went low. No one seemed to pick me up on it though! You are all too polite! Is it the same with ‘If I Fell’? It’s Paul going high when John goes low for the Beatles’ original!
Lucky we have YouTube to help us out most of the time. Some of the CDs also give this information.
I know you have stated that neither of you necessarily sings the more rocking numbers, but from the perspective of your reply here Mona seems to take on most of the rockers, although you did surprise me with ‘White Room’ and ‘I saw Her Standing There’, and Mona does have some lovely ballads going on there too (in particular ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’), So what would I know!!

I always find it fun to try and figure out who does lead vocal on what song. I am seeing a trend developing in that Mona seems to be more of the rocker between the two. But I am starting to hear little things in their voices that are pointing me to one or the other. It’s not as easy as Lennon and McCartney but I guess that comes from years of listening to their work over and over and over… But no matter who sings lead I thoroughly enjoy MLT’s work.
