Anniversaries
Today is the anniversary of an important event for the Beatles and MLT…..sorta. On this date in 1957 the Cavern Club opened. I heard that the Beatles play over 300 shows there and, I believe I heard that MLT played 200 shows there.
Also, we are getting close to the 55th anniversary of I Want To Hold Your Hand being #1 on Billboard………just the other day, ya know!!
Another anniversary is that the Whiskey-A-Go-Go opened last week in 1964. There’s some confusion, though, about the year. Last week I saw the year was 1963 but it’s website says 1964. So, let’s go with 1964. Mike.

Thanks for the heads-up! Early Beatles were my fave and Rubber Soul my #1 vinyl album.
Wow, so the original Cavern opened when I was only 6 years old and in 1st grade! I’m pretty certain I was not aware of it back then; lol!
My music in those days was Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Big Bands, etc. My clubs were those hosted by Mickey Mouse, Cowboy Bob, and Howdy Doody!Am I correct in recalling that the MLT Cavern was not the same as The Beatles Cavern? Is it the same building at the same site and just renovated? Or it is totally different with the same name? I’m probably totally confused about that. If you do not know, then surely Howard (Steve) will be here to answer. Thanks!

It appears the Cavern Club has been through a few renovations and moves over the years. It also looks like it was renamed for a period of time, too. I went to the Club’s website and there are quite a few changes to it over the years.
