    Hi Mona and Lisa

Your recent awesome video “Baby Mine” and release of the Disney Dumbo movie made me wonder what are some of your favorite animation movies and cartoons over the years.

Some animation movies I’ve really enjoyed that come to mind are “UP” and “Coco”.  I saw Coco last year while on a vacation cruise, and really liked it.  It was about a little boy on a quest to find his grandfather who is a famous singer/musician, but it turns into such a touching story, a real tear jerker.  I highly recommend this if you haven’t seen it as well as UP which is about a grumpy old man and a little boy on an adventure to fulfil the old man’s unfulfilled dream, but really touching too.  Anyway, would be interested to hear about any animation movies that come to mind that you liked or thought was quite remarkable.  As for cartoons, I remember when I was a kid getting up at 6AM on Saturday mornings, sneaking out to the living room to watch the “Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Hour”.  The Road Runner/Coyote, and also Sylvester and Tweety always was fun for me.   I had to sit up close to that old black and white TV we had so I did not wake anyone.

Thank you both for all you do to bring so much joy to us all through your music and videos, as well as your incredible website and MLT Club content.

    Warmest regards

    Jung

    Hi Jung!

I just watched the trailer for Coco and now I really wanna cuddle up on the couch and pull it up on Netflix. I love the concept, combining music and family into a movie – I’m sure it’s adorable!

I’ve never made it past the opening scene on UP, which already had me in tears :’D. Those film studios surely know how to tug on your heartstrings! But if I find the time I’ll watch it prepared, with a box of tissues.

I’ve not paid much attention to animated movies for the last 10 years or so, but one that will be part of my (and Lisa’s) childhood forever is “Finding Nemo”. We knew that movie inside out and used to be able to quote most of the scenes from it – we might still be able to if you challenged us! 😉 It came out at the perfect time (we just turned 9) and how could you not love those little squishy fishies and their turtle friends!

In terms of cartoons we remember watching the Looney Toons as smaller children, as well as all the classic 90’s cartoons, a mix of Japanese anime and some more peculiar European shows like “Heidi, Girl of the alps” or “Vicky the Viking”. It was a real mix but we never watched any particular one on a regular basis as far as I can remember.

On some of them I look back and can’t imagine how we managed to sit through whole episodes and enjoy them. The Pokémon cartoons for example – they’re so slow tempo, it’s nearly unwatchable now! But then again, 7 year-old-me put tomato sauce on potato mash to make it turn pink … so I know preferences change 😉

      Hi Mona!

Thanks so much for your detailed walk down memory lane of your childhood experiences with animations and cartoons.  These days I am finding compared to the sea of mediocre Netflix movies to wade through on the net, the few animations I’ve watched were much more refreshing and thoughtfully done.  I do sometimes enjoy shifting my brain into neutral for a while to escape into a thriller sci-fi flick.  I have heard of “Finding Nemo” mentioned a lot but never watched it, but I have reason to now, so I will.  🙂

Yeah, if you have a chance definitely check out “Coco”, I think you and Lisa will like it a lot.  I just watched it again a couple of weeks ago on Netflix and really enjoyed it even the 2nd time around.  So touching!

Pink Tomato sauce on Potato mash eh?  Sounds like perfection for any 7 year old  🙂

Much love and warmest wishes to you, Lisa, and your parents!

Hi Jacki.  How could I forget about the Flintstones and Jetsons.  So many fond memories of after school cartoon matinees of Flintstones and Jetsons on TV come to mind for me.

BTW, hope all is well with you.  The news of devastating floods in Ottawa and Montreal area in the last few days was sad to hear about.  Stay safe!

Hi Jung… Yes I’m doing fine but my heart goes out to all out in Constance Bay and up the Ottawa Valley and in Gatineau/Pontiac/Nibtrwal Quebec areas affected directly by this insane flooding… Troops have come to help and volunteers are helping out in all areas with sandbagging… Bad enough that in Constance Bay (roughly half hour-hour away from me )… They dealt with same flooding disaster in 2017 though  it’s looking to be even worse this time around but the good thing is… What they learned in 2017 .. They are better prepared for it….Then in the Fall of 2018… Same areas… Hit by Tornadoes .. Some are still recovering /rebuilding from that only to now possibly lose it all from the flooding…. My Grandparents on my Mom’s side at one time had a cottage in that area of Constance Bay and I do recall a time about 30-35 yrs ago going for a drive with Dad to see what it was like at this time of year… We were greeted with flooding water…(at the time the cottage was owned by an uncle who had sold it by then ) People going by in their boats but not to the extreme as in 2017 and now but we turned around and left for home… It was scary … Thankyou for your concern regarding the flooding going on nearby area to me.

Glad to hear you’re not in harm’s way of the flooding.  Sounds like the areas affected still have a nail biting weekend of heavy rains and flood watch ahead.  Out in BC it’s those massive forest fires that are a growing concern every summer.  Global effects of extreme weather I guess.

Enough of all the doom and gloom, its freedom and good health we should always be thankful for.
