An MLT tribute song
“The Twins, They Are Amazing”
(to the tune of “The Times, They Are A-Changing”)
“The sixties are over. The music is dead
And not coming back again,” somebody said.
But now there are two who are forging ahead
With songs that their elders were playing.
What once was the past is the future instead.
Oh, the twins, they are amazing!
Their world was transformed on the day that they found
A long-ago era’s harmonious sound.
And having been bitten, they knew they were bound
To nurture a musical craving
To channel the essence of artists renowned.
Oh, the twins, they are amazing!
They learned from the masters the songs they would play.
McCartney and Lennon directed the way,
With so many others who back in the day
Wrote melodies worthy of praising.
And when they performed them they heard people say,
“Oh, the twins, they are amazing!”
Creatively restless, they tried something new:
Original songs that in spirit were true
To those that inspired them to do what they do.
The fusion was so entertaining:
A time-honored sound, yet unique to them too.
Oh, the twins, they are amazing!
Though Lisa and Mona are two of a kind,
It’s all come full-circle, because you can find
Their songs being covered by folks of like mind
Who love what their music is saying.
A beautiful legacy they’ll leave behind.
Oh, the twins, they are amazing!

Nicely composed David. The Twins are definitely amazing and definitely two of a kind. I wonder what it would take to get a ‘Duo Session’ performance of this from them for Club members. Sung tongue-in-cheek of course!

Thanks, Jacki. I’ve written about 30 parodies, but none MLT-related, so they wouldn’t be appropriate here.
However, I have an idea for a parody of an MLT song that I’ll certainly post here if it pans out.

David I really enjoyed your lyrics! Very well done indeed. Howard you have a great idea about the Twins doing a duo session of this Dylan song with David’s lyrics. I’m sure they would knock it out of the park!
