Love those folks! They do all kinds of covers! Even AC/DC if I remember correctly. Playing the Uke is fun, I got into it last year.

Israel Kamakawiwo was a Hawaiin Ukelele legend in the 80s and early 90s.  This was his biggest hit in 1993 which was featured in a movie as well.  Really beautiful Uke sounds and singing, much like MLTs God Only Knows, I don’t Know Birds That Well, and She;s Leaving Home with Lisa on the Uke and Mona and Lisa’s harmonies.  About the Ukelele Lisa said:

But I like how it’s such a versatile instrument that (especially if paired with a guitar) can really transform a song and give it a brighter, happier feel.

It’s so true, it brightens a song up with it’s happier feel.

And what a cool voice with that gentle, relaxing ukulele playing Jung.

Here’s another one from the Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain:

The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain (UOGB) – Anarchy in The Ukulele

Including an Undertones number (featuring their song included in the “Did The Seventies Really Happen” Topic), followed by a Herman’s Hermits number very Russian/Greek inspired. Also including Nirvana and a David Bowie song just ripe for a MLT makeover!

It’s a bit long at 67 minutes, but I recommend you listen for at least the first 27 minutes if you have the time.

Question: “Why do they call it modern jazz?”

Answer: somewhere in the first 20 minutes of the video.

Because the word “c**p” was taken.  It sounds like they are not big fans of modern Jazz. It’s amazing what these guys can do with the Uke Howard. Some really intricate playing there.  How amazing this little instrument can be in skillful hands.   Thanks for sharing these on the The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain.
