Documentary Viewing Recommendation
I had some time today and watched “Echos in the Canyon” on Netflix. It’s a great documentary about the 60’s music scene in Laurel Canyon. I could help but think about the Twins while watching and laughed out loud when David Crosby stated plainly why he was kicked out of the Byrds.

I saw it too Stephen the other night. Interestingly Angelo mentioned it too on another post. Really great insight into the 60’s music scene out of California. Enjoyed it much.
There is another movie about music “Begin Again”, not a documentary but an enjoyable drama, I’d highly recommend that touch upon musical artist in the modern music world today and the struggles. I posted it here a few months ago, but since it’s still on netflix, here is the trailer.

In the 90’s when I use to drive down to California a lot, I remember exploring that whole area in North Hollywood. Drove along Laurel Canyon Blvd and up to Mulholland Drive going from one end to the other, Hollywood Bowl all he way out to Malibu along Sunset Blvd etc. A really fascinating area, but never knew at the time of it’s significance for the 60’s music scene, although I knew that’s where a lot of Hollywood movie stars lived. I probably drove right by Brian Wilson and Frank Zappa’s place without even knowing it. 🙂
Though not music related this area reminds me of the recent movie I saw “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” with Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt, a humorous satire of the Hollywood movie scene in the late 60’s that was all filmed in this area,

I don’t have Netflix, but this is up my alley of interest… Too bad not on DVD…. (Yes, I’m old school minded when it comes to tech… Lol)… The trailer link here looks interesting, I’d watch this in its entirety.

Thanks for link Angelo but I’m not a fan much for online shopping, but maybe down the road I may consider buying it, I like the book about Laurel Canyon I have, it’s kinda same idea as this documentary link.

That is great Ivan. There is something very special and inspiring about seeing the greatest there ever was/is , doing their thing be it music, sports, or any particular discipline. Ringo was so funny with that little girl when she hit the drums.

I haven’t watched the movie, but this is my take.
Most people seem to pronounce it as Rikenbaakar, after the original name of the co founder, Adolph Rickenbacher. However, he subsequently changed his name to Rickenbacker and the record company spells and pronounces the guitar name as Rickenbacker. So it’s not a case of I’ll be bach, but rather, I’ll be back!
