I would love them to tackle both “Paperback Writer” & “Long and Winding Road”…. Perhaps a few off Dave Mason & Cass Elliot album, Paul McC’s ” My Love”, “Band On the Run”… Maybe even tackle the “Rock On” song (name who originally sang this one escapes my mind just now)… The infinite possibilities…. ??????

Anything off of Orange would be absolutely awesome. For covers, can’t go wrong with a Beatles ballad like “And I Love Her”. The Harrison guitar riff is so soothing. Or a Stones ballad like “Wild Horses”. I could just imagine Mona and Lisa’s harmonies doing it’s beautiful magic to this one.

I think the following song will fit very much the beautiful harmonies of Mona & Lisa.
It can be a great acoustic duo session:
“Every night” from the 1st solo album of Paul McCartney.
Another great option for a duo session is:
“Bluebird” from the “Band on the run” album.

I think I am forever going to request Summer Song by Chad and Jeremy. But, I guess it will never come around. Other songs (unless they have already done it): For No One, No Words for My Love (also on Band on the Run)………all I can think of right now.

Also I believe with how they do harmonies so well another Stephen Stills song….Suite: Judy Blue Eyes would be a challenging song that they would do well.

Someone actually asked MLT a few months ago about covering that song. This is what Mona said at the time:
“We still have a very long list of songs we’d like to give a go one day, and a lot of (to us) influential bands that we’d love to pay homage to by playing one of their tunes. And of course, there are still 300+ more Beatles songs … 300+ more of our favourite songs
“Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” has been on that list for a long time by the way – we love that song. It’s really tempting to have a go at some CSN one day – those harmonies are to die for! If only there were 8, no better 9, 10, 11 days a week” -
Now that would be awesome fun Jacki. Who do you propose hitting those high notes…….. Lisa? I think that’s what they call falsetto! That would be a real challenge for anyone!

My Favourite CSN&Y song has always been “Teach Your Children”.
“Teach Your Children” is a song by Graham Nash. Although it was written when Nash was a member of the Hollies, it was never recorded by that group in studio (a much later [1983] live recording does exist), and first appeared on the album Déjà Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released in 1970. The recording features Jerry Garcia on pedal steel guitar. Garcia taught himself how to play the instrument during his tenure with the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Garcia had made an arrangement that in return for his playing steel guitar on “Teach Your Children,” CSNY would help members of the Grateful Dead improve their vocal harmony for their upcoming albums, Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. Released as a single, the song peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts that year.
Nash, who is also a photographer and collector of photographs, has stated in an interview that the immediate inspiration for the song came from a famous photograph by Diane Arbus, “Child with Toy Hand Grenade in Central Park.” The image, which depicts a child with an angry expression holding the toy weapon, prompted Nash to reflect on the societal implications of messages given to children about war and other issues.
I have no doubt that one day Mona and Lisa will definitely teach their children well, just as they have been.

Yes, always loved this CSNY song growing up in as a kid in the 70s hearing on the radio and singing along.. Cass Elliot actually sang backup on one or two songs on one of their albums… I did not know that until I had read it in a book…. That was a cool Revelation to this Cass Fan:

I wasn’t aware of that Cass/CSN collaboration, Jacki. I guess someone needs to go back and write another verse to Creeque Alley.

David: I’m very much into Cass… I have her solo stuff, including the collaboration she did with Dave Mason, which her younger sister Leah Kunkel also did backup vocals on and Leah’s husband, Russ Kunkel, did the drums, As well as, she also sang backup along with Michelle Phillips and as it turned out to be her final recording project, for Denny Doherty’s 2nd solo album – “Waiting For A Song”, she even handwrote the linear notes on the album. I think she also did some backup stuff for a few other bands that weren’t really well known.
If I ever can come across Denny Doherty’s 1st solo album or if any of you do, please let me know, because, I would like to own a copy. ????

Well, Jacki, I thought I was a big Mamas & Papas fan, but you’ve really got me beat in the depth department. I have CD’s by the Journeymen, the Big Three, and the Mugwumps, but that’s about it for the relatively obscure stuff.
