Well, the last song that made me cry was “Wish You Were Here” (Pink Floyd). After reading up on its origins I wept like a little kid. So that would be a song that moved me recently.
A peculiar, quirky song that recently made me chuckle was “The Intro and the Outro” by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Odd and delightful!

Thankyou Lisa for your reply… Like you, it doesn’t take much for a song to move me whether be to cry or laugh… Your choices you’ve stated…Fab… Well the funny one, I must look that one up, not familiar with it but if you laughed, it’s gotta be that funny… ?

Great question Jacki. Wish You Were Here is such an awesome song Lisa. I remember discovering Pink Floyd in a big way as a kid on my dads pride and joy hifi turntable and massive speakers and my brothers Pink Floyd records. It felt out of this world. Got to go listen to Wish You Were Here tonight.

Lol, Lisa, After looking up that song from Bozo band gang I agree, that song “Intro and Outro” is quite quirky peculiar but chuckle worthy, Thankyou for having mentioned it as I was not familiar at all with it, most enjoyable, nice way to wind down in the evening awhile before bedtime… I love to laugh daily, this worked ??

I watched the video “The Story of Wish You Were Here”. Wow, what a tragic and sad story about Syd Barrett. The video was very moving and inspiring as it portrayed the development of that album “Wish You Were Here” and all the meaning behind it. Seeing the clip of Roger Waters sing “Wish You Were Here” with so much emotion at the end really sends shivers, and makes you appreciate that song like never before. I understand what you mean Lisa, so incredibly moving indeed!
I remember the first time hearing “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” and “Welcome to the Machine” on the album. I was blown away by the guitar riffs and the amazing synthesizer sounds of the elevator, and the machine in the background. The music was magic on the big stereo, and never thought the electric guitar could make such magnificent sounds. That is an amazing album!

I’ve played Wish You Were Here in several of my bands over the years. That song always held a special place in my heart… partly because of it’s origins and tribute to Syd, and partly because the words are so moving and heartfelt. The lyrics really stand up to the test of time, and can be applied to anybody that you miss in your life! In My Life and Imagine also usually move me to tears!
Oh… and I always laugh like a idiot when ever I listen to anything by Spinal Tap. Yes, I know they were a mocumentary, and the guys are actors… but they are all also musicians too! They wrote the songs (intending them to be hilarious) AND played the instruments. They’ve actually played concerts as Spinal Tap! I love ’em!

Intro and Outro was funny and very creative. Thanks for the laugh. The first funny song that came to mind was “Purple People Eater” so I went and enjoyed that again. In the process I ran across one I had heard and forgotten about. It’s a short comedy bit titled “Inappropriate Wedding Songs” by Tim Hawkins. Definitely worth a listen and laugh.
Almost anything by Carol King on her Tapestry album moves me a great deal. Either her or James Taylor or both singing “You’ve Got a Friend“. James Taylor singing “Fire and Rain“. John Denver “Thanks to You“. Bread “Look What You’ve Done“. Lobo “Don’t Tell Me Goodnight“. Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” – I’d love to see MLT update this one.
Recently I’ve found a moving song titled “Never Say Never” by The Fray. This touches me because a friend had his heart destroyed by Lyme Disease and had to have a transplant. He was drawn to and overwhelmed by this song after the transplant (as well as some new foods, TV shows, etc.) He found out later it was the favorite song of the young mother who had died and become the donor of his heart.
P.S. I love your new duo-session of “Wish You Were Here”. Amazing as always.

I just thought of the song that actually moves me the most: Empty Garden by Sir Elton John! Never have the words to a song had such emotion – pain, anger, sadness… all at the same time too! I weep every time I hear it. “It’s funny how one insect can damage so much grain.” I remember that Elton was absolutely crushed when John Lennon was assassinated – they were such close and dear friends! John Lennon’s murder remains one of the saddest days of my life, and Empty Garden always reminds me of that sadness!
Hey…. Mona and Lisa… That may be a good song for you to cover.
