  Epiphone Masterbilt

  Posting in a new thread, but continuing from Jung’s post “A Good Guitar”

  I’m very happy with this one. It’s not expensive, and looks and sounds great.

  In my searches, I came across the Masterbilt mostly because of price and solid woods. In 2003 Epiphone started a line of “Masterbilt” (still don’t know why not Masterbuilt?) in order to revamp their greatest models through the years, especially from the 30’s onward. While I have the Gibson jumbo, I was looking for a 000 or dreadnought shape with solid spruce and rosewood, which is my favorite combo.

  

  

  I like to get guitars that not only are what I like, including sounding great, but that have some particular aspect to them. The Crown guitar I gave my niece, left me with the feeling that there was a sound I was missing in my arsenal, as I really loved how that guitar sounded.

  

  

  I love the Abalone on this one, sort of like a Martin D-41 (which is way out of my price range).

  This particular guitar is one of the prototypes. You can see it has no serial number, just the specs.

  Tomas, congrats on your rosewood Epiphone Masterbilt!   Looks awesome, and I bet it sounds as awesome too!  I couldn’t help notice it looks a bit like the Martin Lisa is using in Wish You Were Here, and Mona in For What It’s Worth.  Is the abalone referring to the pickguard?

  Sorry I’ve been absent, these times have me busier that I’ve ever been. For someone who works from home and doesn’t interact in the outside world often, my life day to day life hasn’t changed much, other than my workload has gone tenfold.

  I was going to record -still planning to- an MLT tune on the Masterbilt, but I haven’t been able to do so yet. Hopefully I won’t butcher it too badly.

  Hi Tomas, awesome to hear from you again, indeed, it’s been some time since your last posting, but glad you are healthy/safe, and like Jung, I, too, look forward to your MLT cover renditions with your guitar collection??
