• Your vocals

    Hi Mona and Lisa

Your singing and harmonies are 2nd to none!  The beauty, depth, and versatility of your vocals are unmatched among female artists.

Growing up you mentioned having taken guitar and drum lessons, but have you taken any formal singing training, or did it just all come naturally?  Do you do any particular vocal exercises?  Do you practice your singing regularly like you would practice your instruments?  How do you prepare your vocals before a performance or recording?  ?❤

    Thanks

    Jung

    Hi Jung,

We did have voice lessons for a while (in our teens) but back then we didn’t get much out of it so we stopped them after a few months. We found that the best way for us to improve was just by singing lots and lots rather than focusing too much on technique (though there is certainly a lot to learn there as well).

We never followed a practise regimen but have found that if we’re performing less (as we currently do) doing vocal exercises every other day helps us stay “in shape”.

Next time we go on tour, eg., we would dedicate a lot of time to build more stamina and avoid straining and over singing.
But at the moment we mainly sing for fun, when we record or practise songs and when we throw in the occasional singing lesson (often with the help of this lovely lady 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/user/verbalessons).

    Thanks ♥

    Hi Lisa!

Thanks so much for that detailed insight into your singing and vocal exercises. I never thought about it, but your vocals like any other part of your body needs exercise to build up stamina too! I can imagine when you sing for an hour or two continuously for a performance, your vocals have to be in good shape. I enjoyed seeing that vocal training video too, thanks for sharing it. There are some good piano scale and chord exercises there too for me in that video! I guess youtube is an awesome resource these days for musicians with all kinds of practice and lesson videos. When I did piano lessons back in the 90s it would have been so nice if youtube was around then. Will check out some youtube piano lessons for sure.

All the best to you, Mona, and your parents!
