We’ve all heard about the creative capacity of children.
Well there is evidence to suggest retaining that childlike wonder is important to being creative.

Einstein’s name has become synonymous with genius and creativity. Named person of the Century by TIME in 1999, Einstein is a rare icon, whose wisdom extended far beyond the realm of science to reveal a man with an almost childlike sense of wonder and a profound love of humanity. – TIME Magazine

The great Leonardo Da Vinci remained like a child for the whole of his life…Even as an adult he continued to play. And this is why he often appeared uncanny and incomprehensible to his contemporaries.
    -Sigmund Freud

So don’t lose that childlike wonder and amazement for the world.

This short and interesting video highlight that childlike quality and the creative process.

John Lennon’s description here on how he wrote many of his songs like “Nowhere Man” is a good example of the creative process as described in the first video.

This is very interesting, Jung, and quite true in my own experience.  I’ve only written about half a dozen tunes in my life, but every one of them has come to me all at once either in a dream or immediately after waking up.

In my teens, I attempted,  still have  it,  my attempt  at songwriting, lyric wise, though I had the tune in my head as well,  just never thought to record it, didn’t occur to me, I just wrote the words while conjuring up tune in my head  as I wrote it ( inspiration came from teenage  crush I had on the band members and being a Duran Duran fan back in the 80s…lol)… The song title is:  ” The Memory of the Red Rose”… now with David’s invite to collaborate,  I welcome my 2nd attempt….

David, I remember times when I was working how I’d struggle all morning to put together a proposal letter or draft up a convincing non standard solution approval request that just did not feel convincing enough or lacked what I really wanted to express.  I’d go for a long lunch and a walk to a nearby park, and sometimes ideas would start popping into mind as I walked along.   I’d rush back to the office to knock off that perfect letter in 30 minutes, that I struggled with all morning.  It didn’t always happen, but some of my best work I think came that way.  It is funny how the brain works and that creative process is intriguing.

Jacki, that’s great about your inspiration and 2nd attempt at that song The Memory of the Red Rose.  Hope we can hear it when you are finished.  I’ve never thought about writing music, but you and David are inspiring me to give it a try.

I can kind of relate, Jung.  I often flesh out thoughts during long walks, although my usual setting for creative inspiration to solve problems is the shower.  I had always assumed this was Murphy’s Law in action:  I can only come up with ideas when I’m somewhere that I can’t write them down.  But I guess walks, showers, and sleep all share that element of low sensory input that frees your brain up to focus on internal business.

Jung, I’m sorry but you have misinterpreted  my posting, and I want to clarify myself… you were thinking, interpreted  from my post,  that I had made an 2nd attempt at my ” Memory of the Red  Rose”, that is not what I meant by my posting…I was referring to the 2nd attempt part of my post,  in regards to this collaboration opportunity with David, as being my 2nd attempt at songwriting,  …I’m sorry you misread my post incorrectly, and wanted to clarify better my meaning…hope you don’t  mind.

Hi Jacki. Thanks for clarifying.  The important thing is the second attempt at songwriting is what is great.  🙂

David, yes I’ve always read Beethoven was often inspired on his walks in the forest while indulging in the peace and beauty of nature.  Artists have done a lot paintings and sketches of the maestro laying by a lake in the woods writing music.  It looks like in the video they mentioned the same of Mozart.  It’s interesting to note MLTs Orange song writing started while they were in Lanzarote (beautiful breathtaking setting) the first time in 2016.  I guess whether it is while showering, or sleeping, or walking in nature, or in John Lennon’s case laying on the couch, inspiration comes when our mind is relaxed in a peaceful state after periods of intense work.
