We just uploaded a new video!

While we’re hibernating in the studio, working on new original recordings, we wanted to share an acoustic Beatles cover with you, which we recorded as part of The Duo Sessions album we released last year.

“I’m Looking Through You” from one of our favourite Beatles albums “Rubber Soul”, adapted for 1 guitar, 1 banjo and 2 vocals. Hope you like it!

We adore this song. There is something about its brutal honesty paired with a rather sweet and innocent sounding melody and arrangement. On almost all levels, these lyrics have never been more relevant than these days.

Baby, you can drive my car …

We know that many of you reading this will have first discovered our music through our cover of “Drive My Car” on YouTube. It’s the most watched video on our channel!

It came from a performance back in Austria in 2012 during our first year of regularly performing with a band.

Well, that song stayed on our setlist ever since then, and today we uploaded a version of it that we had recorded at the Cavern Club in Liverpool … 4 years later!

As musicians and performers we have changed quite a bit over the years, and we love seeing the difference in the two videos. We are still very proud of the 2012 version but we think you can tell that we have learnt to have a bit more fun on stage 😉

New Original Music

This live recording is also the opening track of the album Live at the Cavern Club which we released last year. You can listen to the whole performance of that night (28 songs) on CD or Download, and of course we also warmly welcome you to join the MLT Club to get your CD signed by us before we ship it off.

We are also uploading a new song in video form from that performance to the MLT Club every 2-4 weeks. By the end of the year the full concert will be available to view there, and of course we also upload a lot of other content there twice a week ranging from exclusive Duo Sessions to Q&A videos.

That’s all for today! We are still working on our next big video project for a single off the upcoming album, but that will take a few more weeks to plan, shoot and edit. It’ll be a big one!

Hello (darkness) my old friend …

We would like to share a new video with you today. This one is from our second “season” of Duo Session videos that we release monthly over at the MLT Club. We were so excited to finally do a new Simon & Garfunkel cover!

All their songs lend themselves perfectly for an acoustic Duo Session, but we chose “Sound Of Silence”, possibly Simon & Garfunkel’s biggest and most beloved song. We remember singing it with our school choir and being spellbound by its gorgeous harmonies.

It surprises us to say this, but this song means so much more to us now that we have spent so many hours singing, practising and then ultimately recording it.

It’s one of those songs that we felt we knew inside out for years, but every time we would play it in preparation of this Duo Session the words and meaning would deepen a little. By the end, we almost understood its true meaning 😉

Gather round, you girls and boys …

Today we are celebrating our 27th birthday so we simply had to post this song – first released on our album ORANGE.

It’s called Club 27 and pays homage to all the wonderful talent we have lost at the age of 27, an eerily common age for famous musicians to pass away at. This phenomenon has led to the creation of the 27 Club, an unofficial list that includes the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse … the list goes on.

We know the timing of this release might appear a bit morbid, but we’ve always had a slightly macabre sense of humour. 😉

Now, we don’t have the slightest of intentions of joining that club this year, so rest assured this isn’t an announcement! We’ll keep eating our vegetables and putting on our seatbelts … We’ve got a new album to finish anyway!

The video was created and animated by the two of us. We enjoyed playing around with it and using some new animation effects that we hadn’t explored previously. We know it’s “just” a lyric video but again … we’ve got a new album to finish! 🙂
