90 Million and Counting
Posted by David on 21/05/2023 at 06:08Today (Saturday the 20th or very early Sunday the 21st, U.S. Eastern time), the MLT channel on Youtube hit 90 million views, one week after reaching 218 thousand subscribers.
I’ll do what I can to get it to 100 million, but my job eats into my video viewing time!

All right, another major milestone passed! And 100M should be just months away!

David, according to my calculator 10 million views would be 27,397 per day for 1 year. I believe you when you say it will be reached in just a few months. I just want to say if their channel is getting 27 thousand views a day I think it is very successful.

Yes, Tim, it’s amazing how many views per day the channel gets overall! Despite the fact that Please Mr. Postman / Wipe Out gets about three times as many views per day as any other single video, it accounts for only about 10% of the total views per day. That tells you that MLT has made a LOT of videos that people are watching.

David, all of these great numbers sure lays truth to the Twins statements in the Q&A about YouTube videos being their best promotional tools. Years ago radio play, TV appearances and magazine articles were probably the best ways for an artist to promote their music. Along with endless touring. With YouTube recommending their channel to probably thousands of people per day I don’t know how you can beat that. I think the Twins are very smart at operating their business the way they are doing.

Hi Tim. I don’t know if it’s seasonal or what–I just started tracking daily numbers last August–but 27K is actually below longer-term average, which is more like 30,000. There’s a site called “socialblade.com” that gathers stats and makes predictions. I can’t vouch for their accuracy, but they are predicting the channel will hit 100 million views in December. Imagine that news breaking just in time for the Livestream!

Hi David, 100,000,000 would be a nice Christmas present for sure. I only used the 27,000 because that’s what 10 million averages out for 1 year. David H. predicts they will reach it sooner so that says they are doing more than 30,000 per day. That’s 3 times the population of my town. Lol

Tim and David,
Some impressive numbers indeed. At 27K views per day on average overall for all MLT videos on Youtube (that’s not counting Facebook I presume), if they tried to match that audience at a venue like the Cavern Club that can seat 250 (sitting and standing) at full capacity, they would have to do 90 shows a day to reach the same number of ears and eyes. Great plan they are on, creating new music while reaching so many with their music each day.

Hi Tim, you got me wondering. I’ve been recording daily views since last August 9, which gives me 289 days of numbers through May 26. Total views during that period was 9,630,563, for a daily average of 33,323.75. I don’t have a full year, so I don’t know how much seasonal variation the channel gets–lately it’s been a bit lower, but I’m sure it will bounce back soon.

The idea that people have seen your work 90 million times is mind blowing. Yes 100 million around the corner, and continuing steeper and steeper exponential growth to reach every one in 8 billion.
