A Cool Instrument Hammer Dulcimer
Posted by Joseph Manzi on 09/01/2021 at 04:59I really love the sound of this instrument the Hammer Dulcimer. I could listen to it all day.
Just me.

Hey Joe, how cool and sweet is the sound of that Dulcimer. It looks not too different from the inside of an acoustic piano. Piano just has 88 felt hammers linked to the keys, all striking differing length steel strings like the Dulcimer. I think Mona has a whole Austrian Dulcimer album vinyl! 🙂

It reminds me of a harp and piano. I like the sound myself Jung
Everybody want to rule the world.

Wow Joe, how cool is this. One of my favorite 80s songs done so beautifully on the Dulcimer. And this guy is good, and what a magnificent Dulcimer he has, never seen one that elaborate with foot damper pedals and all!

Jung I bet it helps if you were a drummer to play this Dulcimer.

I was hoping someone did Stairway to Heaven on the Hammer. Sure enough. But no video which sucks.

All these Dulcimer videos are beautiful, especially that 4th one Ard Skellig Village. Stairway To Heaven on the Dulcimer is not too shabby either. The Dulcimer sounds kind of like a harp and harpsichord rolled into one. Thanks for sharing these Joe, enjoyed them much.

Now a little fun Female Zep Band called Zepparella.
The females are taking over the music. First the British wave now the Women’s Wave.

Never knew Elvis covered Stairway. So so to me. Not his style.

The Elvis Stairway to Heaven sounded great until he started singing. 🙂 You’re right, not his style.
I’ve never heard a female Led Zeppelin band before; Zepparella, cool name. Some interesting instrumentation in their version of Dazed and Confused, and I’ve never seen a bow used on an electric guitar before. Did Led Zeppelin or any others use a bow on an electric guitar before?

The Rolling Stones featured Brian Jones playing the dulcimer on the song “Lady Jane”, from their 1966 album Aftermath. However, it was the traditional dulcimer, not the hammer dulcimer.
My previous posts include videos of Jimmy Page playing the guitar with a violin bow while he was with the Yardbirds in 1967 and the group, ‘Making Time’ playing the guitar with a bow in 1966.
The sixties were a great time of experimentation and innovation musically.

Also need to include the seventies too.
