Of course Mccartney’s latest album is not the era you two are focused on. It just amazes me that he still writes so well. I learned song structure from all these early Beatle songs. I definitely learned harmony from them as you two have.

Your parents may be slightly younger than mine, but did you get the Beatles music history lessons from them often? Would you have the Beatle bug if not for your parents?
You know–I’m not sure I can answer that. We grew up hearing vinyl records in the house every day. Beatle records played at least 50% of the time.

Man once I start talking Beatles–I have to force myself to stop. So to spare you, I’ll stop now. You two are so true to the songs–you preserve them—thank you.

    Hey John,

Just wanted to mention that I love McCartney’s new CD as well. I have tickets to see him in Raleigh, NC on May 27. If you’re going to learn, why not learn from the best?

I knew bringing up ‘Egypt Station’ might not be a good idea the second I hit ‘submit’. Let me reply to this under my original topic. I think, though you were also giving me a save on my being a baby about not having my questions answered. I have no idea where that child came from.
Still I’d like to say a few more things about Paul’s latter work, and will respond to you more from there.

Hi John, our parents definitely played a lot of great music around the house when we were growing up but we didn’t full on “discover” the Beatles until we were about 13 years old. I mean, they were part of the mix of music that was being played in our household as the radio was nearly always on, but we didn’t really pick up on them consciously until we hit our teenage years.

During our childhood there were always musicians and instruments around (due to Dad running his recording studio at the back of our house) and genre wise we were exposed to pretty much anything you can imagine. So we were definitely fascinated and interested in music from the start.

But it wasn’t until we came across the remastered Beatles mp3s on our dad’s computer that their music stopped us in our tracks. I think sort of “discovering” them ourselves helped even more to make us fall heads over heels in love with their music. The fact that it became truly “ours”.

Dad has definitely started and nurtured our fascination with music, made us want to learn how to play instruments, we always sang and recorded together, etc. He shaped our taste and ear for music and taught us so much about songwriting and recording.

And through our obsession with the Beatles when we were 13 we also brought back his love for them and the rest is history haha. We’ve been making music together now for more than 10 years and wouldn’t want it any other way 🙂
