Here’s a little back history of the song A World Without Love for those who may be a little younger or have never heard of Wikipedia:
Paul may have finished this song as early as 1958 but neither he nor John particularly liked it. They never recorded it but there is a 30 second demo of it right here.
Paul’s girlfriend was Jane Asher and her older brother, Peter asked Paul for a song. I’m not sure if he asked for this song or just any song but this is the one that Paul gave him. It went all the way to #1 in the US for Peter and Gordon. Besides Elton John’s version of Lucy, it’s the only other Lennon/McCartney song to go to #1.

Peter Asher went on to work at Apple and to rescue James Taylor from a bad situation there. His productions skills, not only with Taylor but also with Linda Ronstadt are extraordinary.

Do I think the Twins do a great job with it? I think the Twins do a great job with everything! I’ll be first in line to buy a copy of their album, The “MonaLisa Twins sing the telephone book.” It isn’t my favorite song by them but it works great for me.

Peter Asher seems a top bloke. I listen to his radio show on the XM Beatles Channel here in the US. Speaking of that channel, I think they need to play some MLT on it.

Here’s another P&G tidbit.  They had a big hit with a song called Woman written by Bernard Webb.  But just who was this Bernard Webb?  Well, it was none other than Paul McCartney.   And may I also say that Peter’s sister, Jane, was one fine looking woman and still is today.
