You’re right, Jung. Bob Marley’s music is certainly inviting and peaceful. I get stock photos of paradise circulating in my head when I hear it.
I’ve never listened to him intentionally, but I had a roommate in grad school whose musical diet during the week was, as he put it, “Drix, Doors, Zep”, but every weekend he’d put that stuff away and “rastafar out” with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.
When I got my ukulele I looked up a video series on how to play it, and the first demo song was Three Little Birds, which I had never heard of. So I had to search elsewhere to find my vehicle of empowerment, which ended up being Leaving on a Jet Plane.
By the way, that’s not Natalie Wood you’re hearing; it’s Marni Nixon. She dubbed in the singing voice for her. She did the same for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady, and for Deborah Kerr in The King and I.
Also, there’s this from Wikipedia: Contrary to popular belief, the famous reggae musician Bob Marley never recorded a version of “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”, as he died seven years before the song was written. Despite this, a video on YouTube entitled “Bob Marley – Don’t worry be Happy ” has over 146 million views.

The Boss – Just love this song. Had to add.

Springsteen wrote it. The Pointer Sisters did a great version of it. But Robert Gordon did it Rock A Billie and to me is the best of them all.
-
Dolly wrote it but I had to include Whitney version.

David, that’s interesting about “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, I always just assumed it was Bob Marley’s song. When I lived in Toronto back in the 80s for a couple of years, I discovered Bob Marley and reggae music. They have reggae festivals and plenty of reggae venues there, so I got into Bob Marley and really enjoyed that music. Makes you feel goood!

Yeah, it’s by Bobby McFerrin, from 1988. As apathetic as I was toward contemporary pop music, that was just one of those songs that I couldn’t avoid. It was everywhere!
