Yes, Jacki, they were masters of the bowing fade-out. They were basically a studio group, but they looked so darned good that they just had to be on TV.
-
Great songs that are mentioned.
What comes to my mind are the Troggs mentioned above, I Will by Alison or Paul, most anything by Bob Marley and in the Reggae area, I really like “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by UB40.
Favorite? That’s difficult. Probably “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers.”
-
I might get stoned (by rocks) if I mention the next one, but 1975 was a great year for me and this song brings back great memories.
“Love Will Keep us Together” by Captain and Tennille
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” was mentioned above, but the Carol King version is one of the most moving songs I know. The duet with Carol and James Taylor is wonderful also.  If I could only have one mellow album or CD “Tapestry” would be near the top after MLT and Beatles.
I mentioned “Unchained Melody” above, but forgot to mention the excellent version Leann Rimes does.
Alison Krauss’s version of “When You Say Nothing at all” is one of my all time favorites.

Ok, I’m done after this one. Either George Harrison’s or Olivia Newton John’s version of “If Not For You”
-
Actually, John, a couple of months ago I became obsessed out of nowhere with Love Will Keep Us Together, and listened to it constantly for about two weeks. I originally learned it as the theme song from the Captain and Tennille’s TV variety show in 1976. “Sedaka is back!”
-
Ok, I was almost done but can’t leave out two of my favorites that climb the list higher every time I hear them:
“Count on Me” and “Close to You”
And the one that really is in a fight for first place for me is the twins version of “God Only Knows” I just find that one amazing.

I’m probably one of the few Taylor Swift fans around here, but I thought I’d throw this one out there. It’s is actually the first song she wrote that I could personally identify with. Before we were married, my wife and I had a long distance relationship for a year that ended with us breaking up (we got back together and have been married now for 38 years)
“This love is good, this love is bad
This love is alive back from the dead
These hands had to let it go free
And this love came back to me” -
Mona’s “sealed with a kiss”, kiss in the Sweet Lorraine video, reminded me of this song.

Yeah, love me some Bobby Vinton! Although I have to say I’m much more familiar with Brian Hyland’s recording of this song. Not that there’s a huge difference, though.
-
David, I didn’t realize there was multiple versions done of this song. Bobby Vinton, Jason Donovan, Brian Hyland. It looks like Brian Hyland’s version became a hit first in 1962, 10 years before Bobby Vinton. It’s probably Brian’s version I knew first.  Such a great song for it to be redone like that.

Nice ones there John. Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers always moves me so much when I hear it, great song.  MLTs Close To You and Count On Me and God Only Knows are the best.
-
Lynn, never listened to Taylor Swift, but that’s a good song! The story of how you met your wife is not unlike mine, long distance relationship for almost a year before getting married, but only been 13 years this year. 🙂

Just so you don’t feel too lonely – I’ll ‘fess up that I have every one of her studio CDs

My wife is a George Strait fan, and about 15 years ago we went to a concert. The opening acts were Ronnie Milsap (whom frankly I found much more impressive than Strait) and a 15-year-old girl I had never heard of named Taylor Swift.
Swift was up first, but unfortunately we got such a late start that by the time we got there she had already completed her set.
