- Hello Ladies,
- In your Heart Stopping beautiful The Best Years of our Lives Video, Mona Brilliantly played the Blues Harp to perfection, and with a Haunting sound the song screams for.
- My question is… Did you all come up with the arrangement for the perfect addition of the Blues Harp, or was that part of the original arrangement.? I have seen Mona play it in Concert with Steve Harley 15/12/2017. There was a video snippet of that night.
- Mona plays it so passionately and you just can’t help but to have your heart pulled on.

First of all – thanks a lot 😀
As far as I know, Steve Harley had never used a blues harp in any of his many versions of this beautiful song he’s done over the years, but after hearing our cover he decided to incorporate it into the live versions we played together.
On tour, the song was always my favourite part of the whole set. Toward the very end of the tune the whole band would drop down and get really quiet. We’d form a little circle at the front of the stage and each band member would play a little solo – Lisa on the uke and I on the blues harp. It was so intimate and magical and will always be one of my favorite moments on the whole tour with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.
So the short answer to your question is, we came up with the arrangement of our cover version and then Steve incorporated it into our joint performances.

Best Years of Our Lives is one song when I hear it, I have to stop whatever I’m doing to just take in the beauty of it. I haven’t heard the Steve Harley version but the MLT version has some of the most breathtakingly beautiful singing I’ve ever heard. Mona and Lisa’s harmony are just so powerful and moving. And Mona’s superb on the Blues harp as well!

I can say with all Honesty your arrangement of this Beautiful song is the best I have ever heard. What a Fantastic idea it was to incorporate the Blues Harp in the perfect places. It certainly is a magical moment and I know that Steve is deeply touched with your arrangement.
