I needed that beautiful music to uplift my day with all the things going on in our crazy world, that brought a smile to my face and this CD Will be a huge part of our Christmas moving forward. AS tradition goes, I always put Christmas music on when the kids are opening their gifts , well this CD will be the one we will put on now as the gifts are being opened!!! Just wanted to share that with you all and thank you Mona and Lisa for putting out such a wonderful gem of Music!!!

I only need one Christmas album for all time and this is it.  Some songs are good for all year round too.

Bill, “Walking In the Air” is a masterpiece indeed.   This is a classical piece composed by Howard Blake in the 80s, and MLT transformed it into a rock and roll version completely eclipsing every other previous versions done by anyone else, making it MLTs own.  The singing and guitar arrangements are just brilliant!  The beautiful singing and elegant guitar work carries you into the clouds.   I like the “pwish”.   Truly sublime!  MLT version I think can stand as a great all year round song.

You’ve heard of the all vocals group The Nylons?  Well MLT can do it better.  “Little Drummer Boy” attests to the magnificence of Mona and Lisa’s harmony, and the richness and depth of their vocals.  They truly can make sublime music without any instruments, just with their voices.  They have the drum, because well it’s the Little Drummer Boy, but it’s all vocals really.   Love how beautifully Lisa carries the lead vocals throughout from the lows to the highs, so colourful!  And Mona’s background and harmony is superb providing perfect contrast with Lisa’s voice.   The track mixing/arranging of all the background vocals is brilliant work.

And then their original, “All I Want Christmas To Be”.  This is Beatles kind of song writing finesse.  When a song can grab you and take you back to feel that childhood awe and wonder of Christmas, that is just great song writing period!  A really beautiful, heart touching song.  Love the piano runs and the heart warming singing.  I can’t wait for Christmas again!

Also will add, Silent Night, I love MLTs version.  This song has been so overplayed for me through the years it lost it’s luster, but MLT restored that luster in spades with their duo session like acoustic version of silent night.  It starts with such a wonderful acoustic guitar lead in, then softly their beautiful voices take over.   So sweet and beautiful again.   Love Silent Night again!

Yes, Team MLT’s magical MLTBuzzGroovin on Christmas classics, and of their own, just amplifies for me,  the aspect  of Christmas Spirit, along with other aspects I enjoy of Christmas Season.

I agree with you guys.  This timeless Christmas Album will become a tradition here.   I love their originals.

And I am in love with “Walking In The Air”.  I can not wait to take this song skiing.  Funny, I did not realize it was a cover.  I was giving all the credit to the girls.  Well, thanks Howard Blake, but the MLT version is the one for me.

What did they say on Game of Thrones , “Winter is coming”

JP, that song certainly has a way of lifting your spirit off the ground.  I think it would be perfect for skiing!  Luckily I haven’t gotten a speeding ticket yet driving with it, as I suddenly feel like doing some spirited driving when that comes on!  🙂   Walking in the Air appeared on a few classical and piano albums that I have and I’ve always liked it, but when I heard Mona and Lisa’s transformed version, it really blew me away.

    Easy there lead foot,

Jung, I have this vision of you driving on the hottest summer day with the Christmas Album cranked.  When “Walking In The Air” begins, a dazed smile lights up your face, you hit the gas, and drive off into the sunset.

Some songs have that effect on me, too.  I drive an hour each way on my daily commute so there are plenty of instances of this.  Umm, “For What It’s Worth” and “Drive My Car” come to mind.  Beep Beep Beep Beep Ya

Then again, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” has a build up that can creep into the accelerator.  I can hear Mona’s drums now.  And when I arrive home, my floors always need cleaning.

Duo Sessions CD Driving – begin near the end – begin with “Here Comes the Sun” and then it will roll into “Good Day Sunshine”   I think that was perfect placement of those songs, beginning and end, sunrise – sunset – sort of –  but I have really gotten used to listening to it this way.

It’s like CD’s are becoming Old School.  I don’t know if I would have changed the sequence listening on my ipod.  One day in the car track 15 rolled into track 1 and I was sure I had discovered something special.

Remember with cassettes you could not easily select particular tracks or play them in a different sequence.   If you were impatient, or only liked one song in the middle of the album, you could fumble with fast forward and attempt to find it.  Talk about distracted driving.

Let’s not forget about the subliminal effects in “It Ain’t Me, Babe”

Leave at your own chose speed

Until the MLT version of ” Walking In The Air” was on their Christmas  CD, I was not familiar  with it, I thought it was an original  of theirs until I found out otherwise…lol…I Love it so …!!

Jacki, given how MLT absolutely transformed Walking In The Air to a magnificent rock and roll version all their own, it might as well be like their original.

LOL!  JP I think you coined that image about right!  Luckily I don’t drive the V8 Mustang anymore, although I do miss the throaty exhaust and neck snapping torque every time my toes twitch on the responsive gas pedal, but my little 4 banger grocery getter keeps me from getting in trouble.

When I am listening to MLT tunes in the car my spirit is often aloft in the clouds and I like to take the scenic route with the windows rolled down and wind blowing through the cabin.  Errands tend to take longer.

I sing in our church choir and our director was playing the original version of Walking In The Air and it was a beautiful song to me and the video on U Tube is great and when I received the Christmas CD and seen the Mona Lisa twins did it, i went to the song immediately and was blown away! Needles to say this is better than the original in my book. And the opening track All I want Christmas to Be, my goodness that is Christmas to me and it is a beautiful Track. Also thank you both for the great version of Santa Baby, I love your version over the original, it is light hearted and fun better than what the original version is made out to be. But that is me I guess…LOL…

This entire album was incredibly entertaining and I stand by my feeling is that it is the “Best Christmas Album in Decades.” Anytime an album can transport us to a wonderful place in time and bring back not one but several “Memories For Keeps” as well as a time when “It Felt Like the World Was So Right” from “All I Want Christmas to Be” is the essence of superb songwriting, brilliant performance and excellent arrangements.
