Your last post made me think a lot Jung: things have been happening around us for many years now that also make me feel very serious and everyone would like to know what will happen next. However, wanting to understand the future is a paradox: it means knowing something that doesn’t yet exist, in a timeline that has yet to emerge, with people who are not yet born and with a mind that is constantly seduced by its feelings.
Perhaps the French writer Marcel Pagnol is right when he says:
“Why do people find it so difficult to be happy? Because they see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is and the future rosier than it will be.”So I try to follow your advice, tell the universe that it has to wait for a while and let my inner essence shine.

I’ve never listened to Christmas music outside of December until I heard the MLT Christmas CD. I adore every song on it and listen to it year round. With that said, I’ve always loved ‘O Holy Night’
-
Hi Diana, O Holy Night is one of my favourites of the traditional Christmas carols, and that video is a beautiful one. Silent Night is another one I use to like, but I heard it too often over the years and fell out of my favour, but MLT with their acoustic version is one of my favourites now! They put the magic back in that song for me.
I always loved the melody for Greensleeves, and so “What Child Is This” is also one I really like of the traditional Christmas Carols. Here is a nice instrumental version with violin.
-
Jung. Niice to read from you. I agree that things get monotonous. That’s one of the reasons why I love MLT. They keep the spirit of the original but put a fresh and new spin on things.

Hi Jung, very nice selection. Lindsey Stirling makes great music and also always produces quite elaborate music videos.
The following song is also one of my favourites that I like to listen to outside of the Christmas season, maybe because it’s not necessarily a classical Christmas song but fits well into the season (I hope you don’t mind if other songs than MLT’s are presented in this topic).

Hi Jurgen. No problem at all. Winter’s Tale is a nice one, and this performance is beautiful with piano and orchestra.
I posted this one in previous Christmas’s here, but this is my very favourite Christmas cartoon/animation, and what made Little Drummer Boy one of my very favourite Christmas carols.
-
I remember this cartoon! I had a 45 of what I think was the same recording, but with the background vocals a little higher in the mix. It was one of my favorite “adult” Christmas songs when I was a kid.
I always used to wonder why the background vocalists were going “broom, broom, broom”. I guess mangers can get a little messy.

Thank you for the animated film. The whole thing reminds me of the “Sandmännchen” (The Sandman) in terms of style. Do you know this story in the US and Canada as well? At night the sandman comes and sprinkles sand in the eyes of the children, so that the eyes get tired, the children then fall asleep and dream? In the morning you can sometimes still see yellow remains in the corners of the eyes. This short animation program was broadcast daily at 7 PM and I was allowed to watch it before I had to go to bed. As the highlight of the day (I loved it, even if I had to go to sleep afterwards). I just wanted to show it once. After the first two minutes, it unfortunately continues only in German and should be uninteresting for most (The little guy in the sled is the Sandman). But is very funny made.
-
Hi Jurgen, I’m not familiar with the Sandman story, but the video is charming. I can see similarity in the animation with the Little Drummer Boy one. Thanks for sharing it.

I love all Christmas songs and think the twins do a fab job with both their originals and covers.
A big fan of the little known Christmas Album by Keith Emerson. Some amazing compositions both instrumental and vocal ???? ❤️
-
Michael, I wasn’t familiar with Keith Emerson. Some very nice instrumental work he does like this one.

It will never be considered a proper Christmas carol, but this song opened an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2006, and I’ve loved it ever since:
-
That’s hilarious David. Puts Santa in a whole new light for the big kids, and maybe explains why Mrs Klaus might not let him out much.

It feels like Christmas now. Here’s hoping for a brighter new year.
-
Hi Jung, this piece of music you might like or am I wrong now ? 🙂

Nice Jurgen, I haven’t heard that Beach Boys version before. I remember the Frosty the Snowman Christmas cartoon that I always enjoyed but had a sad ending. Here is the Beach Boys most famous Christmas song:
-
This song was at the top of the charts in German-speaking countries 20 years ago. Apparently the group has become active again and is re-releasing their old hits. Either desire to make music again or desire to earn money again. Sometimes you don’t really know with such comebacks. In any case, a catchy tune.
-
Jung,
how old is that Beach Boys video?
Well – no older than September 1964. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shindig!
Juergen, the children’s winter scene and music are beautiful. Thanks.
-
Tom, I know, that Beach Boys video looks pretty worn, but it’s the only one that I could find with the original audio. Others had better video but very poor audio overdub. Wow, 1964 I was 1, and they are still touring and doing concerts, amazing! One of the few constants throughout my life so far, the Beach Boys! They inspire me to no end.
Here is a nice Christmas message from Beach Boys Mike Love that resonates today, and a performance of Little Saint Nick in 2018.
