Equal Partnerships
I was thinking about how equal the partnership is between Mona and Lisa and honestly, I can only think of one other pop/rock partnership that was just as equal.
The Twins both sing lead, play multiple instruments, harmonize wonderfully, co-write, and make joint decisions. They also co-star in more than 100 wonderful videos.
John and Paul sang lead, played multiple instruments, harmonized wonderfully, co-wrote and were the primary leaders of another Liverpool band. They co-starred in around 25 video and made 3 movies and a TV special. They have an almost even split on both songwriting and singing during the years they were together; Paul had more hits but often John’s songs were more unique (Hello Goodbye a hit, I am the Walrus the more memorable song from the same 45)
Elton and Bernie weren’t nearly as equal because one was a lyric writer and the other a singer and performer.
Paul and Art weren’t nearly as equal because Simon wrote the songs and played guitar.
Mick and Keith weren’t as equal because Mick grabbed 90% of the attention and did all the vocals.
The partnership between Lisa and Mona is one that comes along about once every 60 years!
