Dan Fogelberg – Run For the Roses
-
I posted the wrong version of “Run For The Roses”
Here’s the one I meant to post

I don’t think I saw “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.  I love some of his songs and like the British group UB40

Great videos John. That Dan Fogelberg song is really beautiful with the horses and white picket fence ranches. We have an area like that where I live called Fort Langley and lots of rolling hills and ranches and horses. Beautiful animals.
The Three Little Birds is one of my favorite songs by Bob Marley. Back in the mid 80s when I lived in Toronto for a couple years, they had a lot of Reggae clubs that were just awesome, and really enjoyed Reggae music since then. I don’t have any Reggae albums per se but when a Reggae tune comes on the radio or something I get into it.

Bob Marley was one of the most inspired and poetic artists I think. Here are some quotes from him:
Beginnings are usually scary, and endings are usually sad, but it’s everything in between that makes it all worth living. Bob Marley
Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet. Bob Marley
The biggest coward of a man is to awaken the love of a woman without the intention of loving her. Bob Marley
Conquer the devils with a little thing called love. Bob Marley
Don’t worry about a thing. Every little thing is going to be alright. Bob Marley

John ,  Big Red is the best athlete out of everybody . Winner the tripe crown is that an easy feat. But to do the Belmont and win it by 31 horse length is truly amazing. And will never be repeated. The movie was excellent. No human athlete can match that. One o f a kind.

I’m a central Kentucky native, so those “Run for the Roses” videos really take me home. Thanks, John!
I once visited Churchill Downs for a tour. The tour guide said that an autopsy on Secretariat revealed that he had a freakishly large heart, which was able to pump blood and oxygen through his body much more efficiently than normal. That was probably the key to his racing dominance.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight…I can totally envision MLT doing this .,.lol…

Jung,
Great subject so please let me know if anyone choose Little Red Riding Hood? And I am sure Wild Horses ? Sorry if I missed these ones. But a great topic for sure and just throwing this one out there for Mona and Lisa? Maybe a Duo Version of Wild Horses?
-
Bill, yeah Wild Horses is sublime, love that one. Howard posted Sam the Sham’s Little Red Riding Hood earlier.
-
Some great horse photos there Jung. A truly majestic animal. You’re obviously a fan with those Mustangs of yours!
-
Indeed Howard! 🙂 I think my some 26 years of driving around in Mustangs have made me fond of horses. I remember long ago reading an article comparing the Mustang to other muscle cars and the reviewer commented how when you’re inside a Mustang you are high up and feel like you are riding the car like a horse versus the Camaro and Vettes where you are seated deeper in the car. My last Mustang certainly felt that way, like riding a horse, in spirit anyway. Off topic, but seeing those horse made me reminisce.

Matt. I think Wooly Bully is the perfect name for a cat if he is big and furry. I forget how beautiful Michael Jackson could sing. One of the most famous songs about pets is definitely Ben. I remember also seeing a movie as a kid about a mouse named Ben.
-
No one can hold a candle to MJ’s performance of Ben, but Marcia acquitted herself surprisingly well:

David, the Brady kids version is not bad. In both versions in the second verse you can feel it dropping to a darker Myxolidan or Dorian mode.
-
You’re right, Jung. I had always assumed it was a key change, but when I listen to it carefully I hear the same notes in the vocal, so it must be a change in the structure of the chords.
