Fave Outdoor MLT videos/scenes/Why !?
Posted by Jacki Hopper on 20/11/2021 at 22:41Okdokey, out of all the outdoor MLT videos, such as Once Upon A Time, Starman, I Don’t Know Birds That Well, etc…. which outdoor MLT videos do you consider your faves and what scenes in particular and why !?

Fun topic, Jacki!
I too would put Birds at the top of the list. What could be more idyllic than Mona and Lisa playing acoustic instruments while sitting in trees and skipping through meadows? The flower field in June evokes similar imagery. And I really like the bandstand area in the video for Won’t You Listen Now; there’s something very laid-back and old-timey about it.

My favorite scene in “Won’t you listen” is the double cameo by Rudy – i think.
Look at it closely. Cheers

Hi Jacki,
my favourite outdoor video is “June”. I really like the intense yellow rape field and then the blossoming fruit trees. That’s what the fields and nature look like in our country. It all reminds me very much of spring and early summer My favourite season. And the song has a very beautiful melody.

Hi Jacki.
My fave would be The Wide, Wide Land. When my mom suffered from dementia, the drives in the wide open countryside gave her solace and always brought a smile to her face. That’s why I enjoy the wide open countryside very much. I can so relate to this video and song. It has such beautiful harmonies and soothing gentle acoustic guitar sounds, supremely elegant drumming, and magical horn/marching band section in the realm of Penny Lane. The build up is exhilarating!
My absolute favourite song and video for all time!

It’s a tie between Wide Wide Land and Birds. The tribute to their grandmother always brings a tear to my eye. And I love the scene of the girls skipping down the meadow in Birds. I don’t know why but it brings joy to my heart.

The Martian or Lunar like landscape of Lanzarote, and the brilliant starry night gives Starman and Once Upon A Time a real mystic feel whenever I see the video. A kind of psychedelic out of this world atmosphere. I love that mysterious feeling of wonder and awe it invokes. In the David Bowie album WOTT, the way Mona and Lisa described how the dark rain clouds just came at them out of nowhere just adds to that mysterious feel of the place. The landscape of Lanzarote fits in perfectly with the out of this world feel of Starman and Once Upon A Time.
“When Mars and Jupiter aligned, they said a new age of Aquarius had begun…”

“There is a Starman waiting In the sky, he’d like to come and meet us….”

For Janitor Joe, we will have to rely on our imagination for now:
“…He dreams of leaving mother earth; Flying through the universe…”
