Five Favorite Guitarists
Posted by Tom Fones on 13/10/2020 at 15:45I can’t believe this one is not covered.
My favorite guitarists are not the A-listers, not flashy just very proficient and distinctive.
In no special order therefore alphabetized…
Jerry Garcia, Mark Knopfler, Albert Lee, Carlos Santana, Stephen Stills

Some of mine are A-listers:
1) Jimi Hendrix
2) Stephen Stills
3) Stevie Ray Vaughn
4) Eric Clapton
5) A change-up with Leo Kottke. Although Santana, Page, Beck, and others could be there.
Most underrated: Glen Campbell and Prince. Also in his early days James Taylor could make the acoustic hum a little. He had a few instrumentals in his early albums and they were very good.

Ok so you all know mine…LOL..
Ronnie Wood
Keith Richard
Glen Campbell
Steve Miller
And yes…Mona and Lisa…. I am being honest, they both are fabulous on the guitar. They give all the others a run for their money.

Hi Thomas…this topic is similar to the female/ male guitarists postings already on here, but I like how you made yours more specific.?!.lol..,though I could easily rattle off 10-20 of my faves , instead of just 5 but for tge sole purpose for this particular topic thread, and for tonight , I’ll pick the top 5 that come to mind, Mona and Lisa are already a given so they’re in a separate special place …
1) Vince Gill
2) Eric Clapton
3) George Harrison
4) Mother Maybelle Carter
5) Al Connelly
As I say, these are the 5 for tonight but I could continue on to 10-20 more….lol….?

I think a great guitarist is one who can express great feelings through their intricate guitar work, not just blazing fast theatrics.
1. Lisa
2. Mona
3. David Gilmour
4. Angus Young
5. Malcolm Young

To all your lists (some great ones) I would add
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Terry Kath of Chicago
Also Mona and Lisa’s friend Albert Lee.
and Alvin Lee from 10 Years After.
And as many of you have posted David Gilmore.
And Jackies fav. Vince Gill.
OK I’m done now.

Hi Joe, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Watching this video, I couldn’t help notice how so many in this top 10 list died much too young in their prime, or maybe even before their full potential was realized. Such a shame.

Yes Jung, It one of lives mysteries. I’m sure you do like I do. Wonder what else these great artist could have made musically.
Listen did you see the 20/20 show ABC did on John Lennon
Also I posted on your thread an interview of John Lennon sister Julia talking about John.
I like it. I would not say it was great but it was entertaining. Check it out on your Sean Lennon & Paul.
Well my friend bed time for me. Have a good one.
Joe
