My efforts from last year…store bought….lol… tried to remember to weed out whenever I’d think to, which wasn’t often, or to remember to water if it didn’t rain… like I said, I’m not keen on gardening to begin with, I’d rather admire the flowers elsewhere than to be a gardner… lol

However, I do treat myself to flowers bouquets to cheer myself up now and then…
Buy flowers for my parent’s gravestones…

Thomas: Thanks for link, I’ll checkout on that….

The only way The Garden Song could be any more endearing would be if John Denver sang it, surrounded by Muppet plants. Maybe if we wish really hard…

I first heard this version (which to me is the best version!) on a Sunday morning radio show here in the states called “The Garden hotline”. It was a show by the late gardening author Ralph Snodsmith in which you could call in for help with questions and problems. He played this song at the start of every show. Such a great tune! I met Ralph a few times over the years and what a nice man he was.

      Garden on!

    Jacki,
    the flowers are beautiful.
Thomas R., David – it’s good to see Jahn Denver again.
I never knew the muppets could hold still for so long.

    Roger Penn,
i am glad you liked the author’s version of The Garden Song.
    I don’t watch much television.
I only recently discovered American Music Shop.
They had some great musical shows for a few years in the 90s.

Well friends – it seems like this gardening thread is growing like a weed.
It just goes to show much fertile ground there is in the MLTC.

You all have heard me mention my bucket list? This is one, right now I simply don’t have the time to put a garden in with my job and my little Maddie. My wife works second shift and I Am daylight and when I pick up Maddie it is the Dinner, homework, bath , read and it is 8:30 already….LOL…But I am very close to retirement and I plan on putting a garden in and put a lot of effort into it. My goal is tomatoes , corn, beans and what ever else I can do. I certainly have the space, my back yard is big so no problem there. But love this post and I learned a deal reading all your replys. Thank you !

    Bill,
you may not have time to garden – but you have a beautiful flower to nurture for a while.

    Thank you Thomas,
Long story but we have our little Maddie and she is 8 years old and such a joy! But gardening is a part of me and my wife’s family. Our grand fathers had great gardens and such good vegetables. And huge tomatoes that is so good in spagetti sauce.

Well not a good as yours at the moment! My carrot seeds have sprouted as has my cucumbers and beans. I have a small 4×8 foot raised bed and then a few containers I also grow stuff in. Things haven’t really taken off yet.

    Thomas,
    don’t stress.
I cheat – i start with nursery plant which i purchase at the Farmer’s market.
    So i am ahead.

I admire people who start from seeds but i am a high yield low maintenance type of guy.

Thomas, it looks like in a couple weeks you should see some good results in your garden there.

It’s a work in progress here. Got the new fence up, and with some left over pieces of wood the contractors left, constructed a grape stand for the mini grape plant. You can see it’s just trying to bud.

    Looking good Jung !

Reuse, renew, and when all else fails, recycle.

Our little flower bed creation. Now have to wait for the flowers to grow. Our little heat wave ended today and there is a week stretch of rain, so good thing we finished it.

    It looks very nice Jung.
I am jealous of rain in the summer time.
We are having scorching dry weather down here as usual.
But my veggies are off to a good start.
    Stay tuned.

    Thanks for the photo,

Cukes are up as are some green beans and carrots. Things are SLOW taking off this year. Squirrels keep digging in the pots I’m trying to start some portulaca in. I can’t get Cosmos to germinate for anything this year. Only a couple have sprouted for some reason. ARRRRGH! Frustrating! All my Venus Flytraps are doing great as usual though as are some Sundews. My Sarracenia never made it through winter for some reason.

We’ve had a heat wave here the past 4 days, low to mid 90’s F. No complaints from me though, I was SO SICK of winter!
