As a youngster, I experienced many frightening moments Friday evenings at 11:30PM to watch “Nigthmare Theatre”. It was a late night horror program that aired in Seattle that reached an audience throughout the Pacific Northwest from Idaho, Oregon, Washington, BC Canada, to Alaska. After Nightmare Theatre sometimes, for a few nights I did not like going out into the dark backyard at night when my parents asked me to take the garbage out.
Maybe this Halloween weekend is a good time to indulge in some horror flicks.

I should be upset with the picture of sweet Mona’s head being held up by Lisa but I love Lisa too much to think she would do anything bad to her sister or anyone else.????

The choice of your topics is starting to scare me Jung. 🙂 Off the top of my head, I can think of something you could scare your parents with: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (Less because of the scary moments in the movie, but more because of the scary moral from some parents’ point of view. A good school friend of mine was not allowed to see the movie, because of this. Clear case of scared parents).

Too scary guys.
Juergen i really enjoy the italian translation.
We are really working on a linguist’s tour of Europe. No le parece?
Was Rocky Horror big over there? Wasn’t Susan Sarandon pretty?
Here is a classic to lighten the mood. Happy Halloween to all !

Tom, „The Rocky Horror Picture Show“ enjoys great popularity in our country. In Berlin, Cologne, Munich and other major cities, there are cinemas that show the film permanently at fixed times. The musical will be back on tour next year. In February 2022, even right around the corner from me. Many spectators are dressed up, throw rice at each other and “Time Warp” is danced along. Just like you do. Yes, Susan Sarandon was very charming.

Happy Halloween from the Groovie Goolies! This song was released as a single and actually reached the top ten in the U.S.:

Halloween actually has no great tradition with us. Not to say: actually none at all, until one evening, in a dark stormy night the following happened:
I heard a ringing at my front doorbell and when I opened it, two small, strange figures were standing in front of me with a large bag. „Sweet or Sour”, they wanted to know (in Germany it is not said „Trick or Treat“, but: „Sweet or Sour“) and so I answered: “I would like chicken sweet and sour but not as much rice as last time”. But as it turned out, it was not the delivery service of the local Chinese restaurant, but my neighbor’s children. No one could have guessed. Since then, I also know: This is Halloween.Tim Burton. Always wonderfully weird. “This is Halloween” from his classic movie “Nightmare before Christmas”

Nice videos guys! Captures the halloween spirit.
Monster Mash is always a favourite of mine Tom. I especially like the Beach Boys version. That’s amazing David that song made it into the top 10. The songs is kinda catchy. Jurgen all those skeletons remind me of a great animation movie, “Coco”. Not about Halloween but along the lines of the Mexican festival of the dead, but based around a really heartwarming story of music, and family. Quite emotional.

Dia de los Muertos, manana, Nov 1. Very timely Jung.
Juergen, thanks for sharing the Tim Burton video. I never knew much about Tim Burton.
Before things get back to normal – a scene from Young Frankenstein.

Tim Burton has not only created animated films, Tom (“Corps Bright” is my personal favorite, a bizarre love story), but also live-action films together with Johnny Depp. The most famous films of the two are: “Edward Scissorhands”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Alice in Wonderland”. I personally love the Pirates of the Caribbean series of films. But Burton was not involved in those movies.
Thanks for sharing the Dr. Frankenstein video. I’m just scared that there are many politicians whose brains have also been replaced.
-
Dr. Frankenstein. You’ve given me an idea, Tom:
-
Tom, I always remember that part in all the Frankenstein movies, Igor drops the good brain on the floor, and uses the alternate one on the shelf! 🙂 Frankenstein would be a different story if Igor wasn’t so clumsy!
-
Jung, i wonder if Mary Shelley had a brother or boy friend who was very clumsy.
Juergen, i really liked the clock theatre. Much better than the one in Berne.
It must be much newer. I think i am in the wrong discussion thread.
-
Hi Tom, Halloween is really shaking things up. You’re right, I just lost the clock theater somewhere. The culprit is the „Time warp“. 🙂

Thanks Juergen.
The Wedding Scene from Rocky horror will probably outive all of us.
Cheers

Jurgen, the Rocky Horror show I remember was pretty famous, but I never saw it. Looks like a fun one to check out. Nice find on that Huey Lewis Frankenstein video, what an epic music video.
-
Juergen, Huey and the News are from my back yard out here.
I had no idea they could be so spooky.
Cheers
