Helen Reddy
Posted by Bill Isenberg on 04/10/2020 at 17:46We lost a great one in Helen Reddy this week, so sad. Such a beautiful and pleasant voice. She knocked the doors down in 1972 with I am woman and never looked back. Don’t know if the MLT Would consider any covers by Helen Reddy but just wanted to have a shout out to Helen and say god bless and thank you.

Hi Bill. I’m not too familiar with Helen Reddy unfortunately, but listening to some of her music on Youtube, she was indeed a great singer. It’s sad when the music world loses one of it’s greats.

I agree, so sad to lose a great one. Back in the day there was a show called Midnight Special that aired Friday nights back in the early 1970’s I want to say 1972. This show highlighted groups and their newest songs. I believe John Denver hosted the first show but Helen Reedy became a regular host for a few years. Her voice is like Karen Carpenter so smooth and beautiful.

I just learned from the latest video by the Wings of Pegasus guy that Helen Reddy came out of retirement in 2015 to record this:

The other day, I was on a streaming app, rewatching The Jeffersons, and low and behold the episode where they go to Atlantic City, and who amongst a few celebs featured playing themselves are featured….why, Helen Reddy of course ?

Jacki,
Spot on my friend. Great episode. Helen Reddy was a huge singer in the 70’s. such a sweet voice and loved to hear her sing I Am Woman. She opened the door for so many female artists back in the day.
