Hi Bill,
I have heard that retirement can be very exhausting.
Have you caught up with all the train trips mentioned in Juergen’s wanderlust post. Just asking
-

Hi Bill & Maddie,
I too have been a little distracted with life lately. The Forum is very active. Keeping up with everyone’s posts does take some time. The Wanderlust thread has been around the world. Still love reading everything, even if I don’t respond.
A few important women were born this week. My boss’s birthday is today, Lisa and Mona on Thursday, and my wife’s on Saturday. So we have a lot of celebrating to do this week.
Stay groovy,
JP

Hello Johnny Pee,
I am with you as well, trying to keep up and loving what I am reading. Happy Birthday to your boss and your wife! And of course Mona and Lisa!!

Hi Bill;
I second that emotion (to quote an old song). I’ve been retired since June 2020 and we have just moved to WV and NC. Six months in WV and six months in NC. We completed the move about a month ago and have not yet unpack everything in NC. Both my wife and I have caught some strange NC mountain germs and have not been able to unpack. Then we get to unpack things all over again in WV some time in August. So, I guess we have been busier during retirement than any time I worked for companies and teaching. Still it beats working for someone else. Mike.

Mike,
Hello and yes very busy for sure. Seems like you got your hands full. We travel to South Carolina to visit Myrtle Beach and love it! I agree beats working for someone or a company and you are on your own schedule and never have to worry about time schedule or yearly reviews or new rules to follow …etc….and being out of management no headaches with issues…LOL…
Enjoy and relax

Hi Bill again;
We used to live and work in Charlotte (1979 – 1994) and we would go to Myrtle Beach about three times a year during the summers. I have not been to Myrtle since 1994 and I have heard it has gotten dicey there (some nickname it as Murder Beach). Even so, I would love to get back to Myrtle Beach now that we are in the NC mountains. But, we would likely stay in North Myrtle Beach or south of the town (Seaside??). Mike.

Michael,
We stay in South Myrtle Beach and the place or area we stay is Surf Side or Garden City and we have had the best times there. It is not the busy part of Myrtle Beach just kind of laid back and family oriented. We have not been there since 2019 and hope to go next year. With our son getting Married this year that kind of taken the focus this year.

Hi Bill. Hope you are enjoying your retirement, and it all sounds like the best kind of busy coaching Maddie’s softball, preparing for your son’s wedding, how awesome, congrats to you both! Thanks for checking in. I have a few years left to go before I retire, but I am hearing Janitor Joe in my head everyday already.
All the best to you, Maddie, and the family.
Jung.

Thanks Jung! Yes it is a new chapter in my life, and you will enjoy retirement my friend. Janitor Joe is in my mind each day, and the best part? If I don’t finish what I am doing today? There is tomorrow, someone told me that when you retire? Every day is Saturday!! Love it and my Maddie made the all star team so we are gearing up for that!

Hi Bill:
What a great beginning to your retirement you are having…preparing for your son’s wedding and coaching your granddaughter’s softball team. Good stuff. It is great that you are enjoying your time…noticed that I did not say your free time since you have so many good things going. My Blue Jays will be in Pittsburgh to face the Pirates at the beginning of September. Hope that you can get to one of those games and remember that a fellow MLT fan is watching the game on television. “That’s Life” would be my walk-up song.
“That’s life, nothing is set, you better not bet that it’s always sugar and honey”…epic!
-
Hi Christopher,
Yes the Blue Jays will be in town and I will most likely be at that series. Yes That’s life is for sure, love that song!! I was telling Jung Maddie made the all star team so we are gearing up for that in July and August! Fun times for sure. Great to hear from you and hope all is well

Hello Bill,
I get the impression that you kind of like Maddie 😉 I’m so glad you get to enjoy spending more time with her. They just grow up too fast. Glad you chimed in and thanks for the update. My countdown is now 8 1/2 months.
-
Diana,
Thanks for the kind words! YES 8 and a half months will fly by quickly. Just a suggestion? Start now with your finances like Social Security, pension, 401 K…ETC….I started 3 months before and just got it all done so if you give yourself a bit of room it will help. Yes Maddie is a pleasure and we love her to bits. My youngest son is getting married in July and we are thinking more grand kids soon!!

Thanks Tom, Maddie plays the infield 2nd or 1st and depending on how the game is going we move kids around and she plays left or right center field. Our last regular season game it tonight and then next week we go into playoffs and then we move into All Star play in August so busy summer! But love it!!

Hi Bill, glad your enjoying your recent retirement and I velueve tgere is a Purple Store in Myrtle Beach, a friend had vacationed there some time ago, and saw the store, I came to her mind, lol, she bought me Purple souvenir from the store ….lol…
I have 2 nephews who play softball (16/18) , well the younger nephew more keen on playing and even got to abroad a few yrs back with a special softball team he was invited to join on with for the trip and had arrived home just before Covid had hit and travel was to stop … yes Retirement has occured in my family too, I’m a few yrs away yet from it though I’ve worked since out of high school, 1989 at my career, not with same company all this time , but physically it’s begun to take toll on me so future retirement is on the horizon in the next few yrs… Keep On Enjoying the zretirement pace Journey, Happy you updated us all, Take Care ????????

Hello Jacki, always good to hear from you! I will have to check out that store next time we go to Myrtle Beach, thanks for the information, I will keep you in mind when I go there! Yes Covid has changed everything in our lives for sure. Retirement is a new chapter in my life, I have been always a work a holic and now have to re focus and one is getting back in shape, I walk aprox 3 to 5 miles in the morning and trying like crazy to cut back on what I eat, I love chocolate and that is my downfall….LOL…But trying to loose 20 pounds before my son’s wedding in July! But each day is different , either yard work, or working on the cars, or my wife’s honey do list…LOL…We went to a concert the other night with our boys and it was an outdoor concert with a group called the Luminaries, never heard of them but we like them but the best part? Just getting out and trying to get back to normal with life, it felt great just being with people and having a good time. So good luck to your nephews on their softball games and keep in touch, again always great hearing from you! God Bless and keep us posted on your retirement.
